Great score Choon. Yeah that's the Slash Jumbozilla. It's this black type 1 version seen here:

Well, what's interesting is that how your figure's "branded" IS different from other repro's. I have the glow reissue, and while yours clearly has a black ink stamp for Bandai (in Japanese) on the left foot, mine has "POPY" in English. And on my right foot, there's the copyright 2000/Bandai 2001/Japan engraving Mike mentioned. I'm guessing that indicates that your repro is B-Club, while mine was Popy...but I'm not totally sure how all that worked.

Maybe Mike if he's lurking...
never really understood the name difference between B-club and popy. It seemed to be pure marketing. All are really made by bandai, right?? I thought switched to Popy when they started to reissue some of the popy molds. Sort of pointless since the reissues and originals were about the same price or at least close. Now everything has shifted to bullmark. not sure if it still goes through bandai or not. i believe it is the owner of the original bullmark. I could be completely wrong since i really did not pay much attention. All i know is the same figures from the now bullmark cost a lot more then when they were under the b-club brand. I think yuji has a hand in there too. The mechagodzilla reissue was via bullmark. Roger might not some more facts...
Let's see if this helps untangle the spaghetti.

The B-Club company is owned by Bandai. In the 80s they launched a magazine to hawk their garage kits ("Bandai Brain Bank Media") and in the 90s they started selling Bullmark kaiju reissues. B-Club always used the Bullmark logo on the toys and the headers, and as noted above, they added the Japanese Popy logo to the header and stamped it in English on the kaiju's feet.

The original Popy company (the one from the 70s that made kaiju and robots) was also owned by Bandai. In the 80s Bandai decided to absorb the company and retire the brand. About five years ago when Bandai started gunning for older collectors, they revived the brand name and started putting it on their Bandai chogokin reissues as well as B-Club's reissues of Bullmark kaiju toys, which is confusing.

To make matters more confusing, I believe Bandai took what used to be Yutaka/UniFive/Banpresto (all Bandai subsidiaries that made cheapie toys and crane game prizes) and slapped the Popy name on that company, but I could be wrong about this.

And unrelated to anything, Slash Company (which I believe was a completely independent entity) did reissues of vintage Popy vinyls, but the Popy logo was not on the header. Maybe Bandai didn't want them to use it.

Up until recently (see below) Bullmark existed only as a brand name that Saburo Ishizuki (founder of the original Marusan and Bullmark) owns. It could be an asset of Marukoshi (his manufacturing company) but I'm not sure. He licenses the name and logo out to companies that want to use it, such as M1GO, Bandai, B-Club, etc. If you want to make a toy that uses the Bullmark logo, you need to pay Ishizuki-san.

I believe you also have to pay Ishizuki if you want to use the old tooling for Bullmark toys that he still has. You may also be able to hit up the modern incarnation of Marusan for pre-Bullmark tooling, I'm not sure if Eiji Kaminaga (president of Marusan) provides those assets to other people. Incidentally, when the modern-day Marusan does reissues of old Marusan stuff, I don't believe Ishizuki gets anything because they're pre-Bullmark toys that use the Marusan logo.

Recently, a modern incarnation of Bullmark was launched. It is a mail order operation, selling reissues of old Bullmark toys.

In addition to running M1GO, Yuji Nishimura consults for B-Club, designing vinyl and paint color variations. He also consulted with Bandai and Iwakura when they did their shrinky-dink versions of Bullmark vinyls. I don't know if he also provides this service for the modern Bullmark company, but it's pretty likely.

Does that help?

I've been hunting down this version for over 5 years. There's one that's been sitting at Mandarake for the longest time but comes with G-Shock watch and cost a bomb! Thanks to Frank, I finally got this guy!

Beauty find on the maquette goji, kurumonz! That's my second most sought after modern sculpt.
The one I want the most is the Museum edition of the post-surgery Jirass - those blue hands haunt my dreams!

I almost wish I'd never seen this photo -

- because the green is AMAZING, and I've passed him up a few times while waiting to stumble on a Mr. Painted-Like-Bullmark-Giant-Goji for sale.

Sigh.

On a related note-
My favorite modern Jirass -

Yes, M1Go's Bullmark Goji is an outstanding sculpt. I've got the unpainted mint vinyl which shows the sculpt really well.

@toothaction- its not so much the blue hands but the superbly painted pearly whites that won it for me. There're a few variants that look very similar. They do appear occasionally. Shouldn't be too difficult to score one.

Well, this vintage guy is new to me, so there is always that fresh toy bias, but I have admired this as one of my favourite sculpts for quite some time. For me this guy has just the right balance of silver highlights, not overdoing it like some, but not totally bare either. What can I say, crude but entirely loveable.

I wonder if anyone has any info on one of the smaller Marusan reissue Gojis. The guy I saw looked very much like this 'balloon blower" from CT:

Image

Except I didn't really notice that giant hole in his mouth. I really love this sculpt and was wondering if there is another similar version. It's actually somewhat small, maybe 5 inches, and I love his deformed proportions (kind of like a Buta). Anyways, it seemed way overpriced, so I passed, but definitely one of the cooler Goji sculpts I would like to add.

It only took four more months added to the 5 years prior, but I finally have my very own set of pearly whites to photograph

Now to set my sniffers full-force on a Maquette! Tired of yours yet, Choon? :D

Digging the King Zaius repro by Slash as well. especially the one in the GID variation of the classic blue-fingered colorway.

Congratulations on the vintage score, ultrkaiju! Wish I could tell you more about that bitty repro, though...

This is my 2002 Marmit "1964" GID Godzilla. Do any of my marmit peeps have any more info on this piece? I was told it was a convention exclusive, but I am having trouble finding info on it. I love the brightness of the glow and the red eyes.

It's mid-sized, right? That'd make it the Parababy. World Character Con exclusive, according to CT...and I guess it was supposed to come with a Mothra figure?

Either way, this dude was probably pretty hard to find! In all my years of Marmit browsing (if not exactly *collecting*!), I've never seen this version pop up. Killer score!

It is mid-sized. I didn't know anything about a mothra companion, though. Oh well, I only paid $15 for it and I love it.

Ouch! Revealing such a low price for something I'd punch nuns for hurts!
Glad he's in a loving home, though. His pal Mothra, which originally came with him, aint bad either.
Excellent choice of a favorite Goji, though!

By the way, does anyone know where I can find a list of all the Parababy colorways?

I know there is a brown, and a few blues, but I want to see all of them.
