D is obviously an unbalanced, temperamental dckhead, but I don't really care because he paints like a wizard and now he makes cool toys. Put me down for $100.

Everyone here rules because they do have unabashed opinions, which often times pushes people like me to do better... I want this to be the start of something better from me

Bottom line, don't let people get you down. But you definitely need to be open to criticism/feedback. Don't ask people for feedback who's gonna blow smoke up your ass. I may have made Rich cry a few times trying to get Ollie right.

Ok, I seriously mean this-not trying to start shit.
Will you help me understand how this figure is yours? I thought you were the artist, but then saw another name on the sketches.
If the artwork was drawn by someone else, and its being sculpted by someone else, how is it your toy?
Asking honestly.

Asking honestly. His idea and he's asked someone to draw it up for him and someone else to sculpt it. I guess legally, someone else can lay claim to it without the proper paperwork done, but do we have to go down that route? This is the same as asking someone like Baikin if his kumon is his because he didn't sculpt it. Make sense?

Re: Rishiki the Mutant Sumo Kickstarter has launched!
Well, in keeping with the "not trying to start shit" trend, were you actually trying to name this guy Rikishi, not "Rishiki"??? As far as I'm aware, rishiki in meaningless in Japanese, but rikishi (りきし) means "wrestler". And I'm sure you've probably had this thing in the works for quite some time now, but are you aware that FiveStar Toys just released their "Rikishi Man" vinyl, the sumo-themed Kinnikuman character?

He has it spelled wrong here, but it's "Rikishi" on Kickstarter. And I love when people say they're not trying to start shit and then proceed to start shit. I love people who can't spell the name of their "own" toy. Starting shit is a fine art, some people here just need more practice. Re: Rishiki the Mutant Sumo Kickstarter has launched!
hey.. if the project goes through for dlux, more power to him.
suggestions:
-maybe you'd want more than a conceptual sketch before you ask for a couple of bills. I don't see how the sketch is going to look like a toy.
-I think some of the appeal for Lash's Ollie is that every contributor got a one-off & that made people's mouth water. This feels more like a pre-order of a toy that is still in the early conceptual stage... unlike the skinner x Siccaluna preorder where it's an established artist/sculptor, no one really knows what to expect from something you are producing.

Re: Rishiki the Mutant Sumo Kickstarter has launched!
I am a tad dislexic so I still to this day sometimes spell it wrong... It IS Rikishi....
I drew the original sketches and had a friend clean them up so it was a bit more cleaner and not muddled up with notes, etc... Conceptually it is my intellectual property... But with all legalities aside...
This is a character design... Of course a working figure with joints will be a bit different. If anything, Walter will make this figure look BETTER.
I'm not a strong sculptor, hence why I am having Walter sculpt it. He is known for what he can do. So I was hoping people would know that he can sculpt this figure properly...
I thank you all for your help, critisism, etc. BNut I already know this would be hard to fund without a sculpt. But without funding, I cannot get it sculpted..
Everyone has told me for a long time to make my own toy.. I'm trying to... I already know of the issues of a pre-order, bla bla bla.... Kickstarter is to pro vide backing for peoples projects. Which in return you get some incentive. But the MAIN goal is to help people...
I can understand if people don't want to help based on not having a sculpt. I can respect that... If you think someone might, please pass along the info..
Again, I am aware of ALL things discussed here. I'm trying to get you guys a cool toy, sculpted by a top notch sculptor, and made at a tried and true factory...
Thanks again

Just saw this guy now actually.. But I can assure you, this probably wont be the only sumo themed figure to come out in the next year or so. Mine should look VERY different, so jhopefully it won't really invade any toy prod turf

Re: Rikishi the Mutant Sumo Kickstarter has launched!
Maybe try going for more of a crouching/fighting pose? Right now he's just standing up straight and looks relatively harmless. I want to see a crazy sumo wrestler who's willing to fight anyone/anything
