Post Iawata Neo Airbrush?
Just wonder if anyone has tried out the 60 dollar airbrushes from Hobby Lobby? If so are they decent? The 5 year warranty and a 40 percent off coupon is what is drawing me in...

hmmm interesting. never heard of the Neo. but it looks like the Revolution that I have. But 40% off of $59 is a great price for an Iwata airbrush. I just wouldn't expect tons of control or crazy detail.

Yeah it's got a .35 needle and it's a gravity feed, dual action... I'm also curious about Createx colors for vinyl, I'm ordering some MK paints, but the price on the createx seems pretty good for the color selection, I'm just not sure how it would fair on vinyl... I was going to thin out my acrylics, but when you thin them out the paint looses consistency...is this a better conversation for the sticky...?

i use Createx sometimes. it's ok. it works on vinyl straight out of the bottle. don't thin it. but since it's water based, it will rub and/or chip off so you need to clear coat it with something bullet proof.

I would just stick with Monster Kolor

Just picked one up from hobby lobby..good price with the coupon. Also I would recommend MK over createx. Createx tends to peel and chip real easy they have some cool colors but with MK expanding their line so fast it won't be long till MK becomes the leader in airbrush paint IMO .

I use Master Brand Airbrushes (www.tcpglobal.com/AirbrushDepot ), built like a iwata, but cheaper. They give you good control expecially with their detail models. I'm sure they are not built to last quite as well as Iwata, but at $50 each i find it a great solution to not being willing to spend $200 on a brush. As for Creatix, i do not like it as well for fine details due to the fact you have to use a higher pressure and you cannot get as close with the brush then without spray out.

Post Re: Iawata Neo Airbrush? Also MK retailer question?
I just picked one up to and I have to say it's pretty impressive for what I ended up paying... The only ways I can see that they saved money on the build was in the push/pull trigger, most I've seen are hinged at the end, and this one has a complete ball that pushes down... The spring is also made from a material that I'm unfamiliar with... That said it has a nice spray, and works effectively with both my low pressure air tank, and my higher pressurized compressor... I'm just playing around with acrylics spraying right now, and it's really easy to clean up... I tried to order MK paints but the only account I have that I can use to pay with is my paypal, and they don't accept it, so I'm going to wait and see if lulubell get's restocked... Anyone know if any other retailers carry MK?

BTW the price of the airbrush ended up being 36 with a 40 percent off coupon...

As far as the MK site for ordering, they also take CC, so if you have a paypal debt card, you can use that to pull PP funds... I was annoyed at Moneybookers at first, but after the initial setup, it seems way more secure than paypal, and you can have it pull from a checking account, or card...

Createx can be ok, and can be a pain. I use created to paint eyes, and teeth by hand. It won't pull up paint beneath like thinned paints can, and it has a higher opacity than normal acrylics... If you use it, make sure you use a a high quality clear like MK... Also on clear vinyl which is much softer, i've had the createx crack beneath the clear when flexed...
