You need to broaden your horizons Skylar!

Many Joe's pizzas, some good, some not so good! Chicago is probably the best for pizza.

In Galveston, there is a place that has the best pizza and calzones I have ever had. I forget the name though, but it was awesome.

the tomato is still open! great pizza, nice arcade games, and a smoking section! (pretty rare around here nowadays, especially at a pizza joint).

the sad part is that denton is going to gut all of fry street (where the tomato is) and put in a fucking starbucks and a drug store. goodbye bars pizza and comics. :(

Scud80 / Gunshintohm - how do you know about the Flying tomato in Denton?? I used to WORK there when I was in school. I did a two year stint in that joint, now it is known as Ski's pizza (if I am correct) named after the old FT manager that took it over.

After that? CiCi's pizza all you can eat pizza buffet. That was amazing.

UNT alumni represent! -although I do not think that the school provided much beyond the actual time for me to figure my stuff out.

If Ski took off, I really hope someone remodeled, as it was getting a little (okay alot) grungy in there. I used to live on Normal st, just up from Joe's copies. Bruce Hall, the whole deal.

thats awesome!

when UNT talks about the famous people that went there, they only mention Dr Phil. i'm going to make them mention you and Super7 now!

"you too could grow up to be an international toy pirate!"

yeah, i imagine that there has been little to no remoldeling, its wayyy grungy. but that just adds to the am-bee-ance.

brian,

please listen to the second mp3 on this page by my all time favorite band on earth-the mountain goats, regarding the best ever death metal band out of denton.

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=90794976

Or here are lyrics:

the best ever death metal band in denton.

the best ever death metal band out of denton
were a couple of guys, who'd been friends since grade school.
one was named cyrus, and the other was jeff.
and they practiced twice a week in jeff's bedroom.

the best ever death metal band out of denton
never settled on a name.
but the top three contenders, after weeks of debate,
were satan's fingers, and the killers, and the hospital bombers.

jeff and cyrus believed in their hearts they were headed
for stage lights and leer jets, and fortune and fame.
so in script that made prominent use of a pentagram,
they stenciled their drumheads and guitars with their names.

this was how cyrus got sent to the school
where they told him he'd never be famous.
and this was why jeff,
in the letters he'd write to his friend,
helped develop a plan to get even.
when you punish a person for dreaming his dream,
don't expect him to thank or forgive you.
the best ever death metal band out of denton
will in time both outpace and outlive you.
hail satan!
hail satan tonight!
hail satan!
hail hail!

I was in the best ever grind-core band out of Denton, way ahead of the curve. 91-92ish. 13 songs, 8 minutes. It's a good thing I collected toys.

Brian, I must have seen you at the Tomato in 92/93. I was dating a girl at UNT in grad school. I was in school at Austin College in Sherman at the time. Everytime I came to Denton, we ate at the Tomato. What great pizza. Denton was such a unique town for Texas. Thank god we all made it out!

keiboba - I used to call that "escape velocity". You have to generate enough power to escape, otherwise you get sucked back in.

rednecktex7 - Never heard of Gravity Kills, but Baboon was/is amazing.
