As a newb this kind of brings up something i've been meaning to ask. the sb boards rules advise buyers against sending paypal payments as gifts, but looks like many people here use/prefer gift option

Any seasoned advice on this? Dont wanna be a jerk to sellers but

Looks like it would be worth getting into the habit of insisting on non-gift options.

I never send money as a gift unless it's someone local who I can punch in the face when they don't send me my toy.

I know this was said earlier but it seems pretty stupid to rip off people on forums and ebay especially if you want to keep collecting. I've gotten some fantastic deals on here it'd be stupid to throw that away for some extra bucks....and jail time which is what it all adds up to if you keep doing it since it IS internet fraud.
If you do it enough and 3-4 people report you to the police your done son.

^^^wisdom^^^

and as far as the picture goes I think it's hilarious, apparently shankweather managed to keep a sunnier demeanor than us while being fucked with, a trait I would not wish to posses, but I can respect it

You are misguided on this.

There are tons of people who post here who couldn't care less about the "community" that is perceived to be here.

As has been said many times, completely ignored most of the time, but flippers all over the world frequent this board to gauge what the hot new toys are. To think that one of them might not scam you because they're here every day would be foolish.

Trust YOUR instincts only. If it seems too good a deal or you're unsure ask around on the boards via pm. Even if you are new, there are people that will help you out if you sense something fishy. Never gift unless you dealt with that person in the past a few times and have earned trust or you're on a daily basis communicating with them here or outside this forum as a friend. It's all common sense really.

This said, if you ask for First Class, since you're not protected anyway, might as well gift...

even if someone you dont fully trust asks you to gift, just send it as 'goods' but add 4%. What can they really say then.

I use a paypal calculator to figure what I have to send to cover the seller's fee.
I offer to do this every time I PM someone about an item and it seems to work.

its too bad that no one will be there to see, when karma catches up to this fool and breaches the surface of his selfish world, like a great white shark.

and eats him..

Shankweather received his Pinochio but had already filed for a refund. Once he gets his money back, he is gonna send the douche (cravetoys69) an IOU for $540 written on a rock. Then, at some point, while no one is looking, cravetoys69 is gonna get eaten by a breaching white shark.

The End
