I am having heart attack right now and steaming mad!!!   Can vinyl be polished or repaired in any way? Vent your anger here!!!

if the paint is scratched your SOL, if it is just a scuff on the vinyl try a clean wet rag, I've heard other use a magic sponge for scuffs but you gotta be careful on that one

It's unpainted...Thanks, yes I washed it with light soap and water and tried a damp towel... It's not THAT bad, it's only noticeable in the right angle of light, BUT STILL I know it's there, and it's driving me nuts!!  This is a fucking bad day.....

I hate when that happens. Even if other people can't see the scuff, I know it is there, and the toy is pretty much ruined for me.

Sell it or trade it. Get something new!

if it's unpainted, and there's no actual surface damage just a mark, try a mr clean magic eraser. If it's actually cut into the vinyl. Nothing you can do about that, had it happen before, sucks.

at least it's on an unpainted toy, when a custom shows up like this I have to try forcing that "it gives it character" mentality down my own throat  it never tastes good

I am currently testing Meguiar's PlastX clear plastic polish.... I am testing it on a crappy old vinyl first... Seems to be working nicely on the test piece... I'll keep you guys posted.... Thanks for the support. I wouldnt really care if the scratch was anywhwere else but it's right bullseye dead center of the damn head!! I may need to call a therapist....

This is pretty much how I'd feel. I would always know it was there and it would always drive me nuts. I'd sell or trade it (but don't be a douche and let the buyer know the issue). I'd just try and get the same item later depending on how expensive it was.

There are also some vinyl doctors on this board that could probably fix him up a bit!

It worked! :D The Meguiar's PlastX worked! I just kept rubbing it with a Q-Tip and my finger and it polished it out! I had to re-apply it about 10 times and polish for about an hour but it slowly faded away! No damage to the surrounding area either.... There is still about 10% of the scratch left but you really have to have it in very bright light at the right angle... It is basically totally invisible to the naked eye! So I hope this helps, go get the Meguiar's PlastX! Whew!! :D

Thanks for the info.

The worst for me is when it's DOA. Try having a rare one show up from japan with a few scuffs here and there. Sometimes it just can't be helped if the design of the toy is intricate and was manhandled improperly in the first place.

I've also bought a bunch of bagged toys with scuffs and weird paint marks here and there. Gotta keep reminding myself that this stuff is hand made, that's what keeps me at peace with it.

And, if the arm can rub against the torso of a painted toy, then there will be complications in transit.

Someone should offer up a repair service.

Yeah that would suck... Try the meguiar's... A dremil tool with a buffer pad would be better, I had to polish for like a hour... The light mark that is left just blends into the detail on the vinyl... It's really about 90% better... I still may try a few more applications. But this was a light scratch, it wouldn't work on anything deeper. ...Or painted. I was lucky.

Is it unheard of / taboo to go straight to the artist and ask them to do a touch up on your toy?

Say it's got a simple scuff here and there, for some minimal pay, wouldn't they be able to fix it up?

Not weird at all. I had some issues with a custom before, and I sent it back to the artist and they fixed it for free.
I think most people would be willing to work with you. However if its production type painted pieces, and may be too hard to fix because paint might be hard to match up or things of that nature, but give it a shot.

Depends on the artist I guess. Many are very busy and may not have time for this sort of thing. Couldn't hurt to ask though.
But don't lowball them with the minimal pay thing. Matching colors and blending out a scuff are not that easy or you'd do it yourself right?

Speaking of paint for vinyl toys, does anyone know where I can get a matte silver grey? Has to be matte. I checked monster kolors and they don't have it. I need to touch something up

Oh yeah totally, I didn't mean that I'd lowball them, obviously I'd pay whatever fee they thought was right.

Thanks for the responses, I'm going to give it a shot!
