I have power and you don't....
Massive power outage in California yesterday, I believe the news report said 6 million people lost power, including Legoland, and Sea World. It started in Arizona, because an electrician at a power company removed a piece of monitoring equipment. The outage reached as far a Mexico, which is really weird, IMO that the U.S. is providing electricity for Mexico. Two reactors at a nuclear-power plant along the coast went off line after losing electricity, but officials said there was no danger to the public, but what are they supposed to say... Hope you guys are all right and doing better now that the powers coming back on...

Re: I have power and you don't....
Melissa and I had just got home from Costco when the power suddenly went out.
We decided to walk to the store to see if we could get some Ice for our perishables, as we heard it could have lasted until today.
There was a big line of people, all buying Beer. Ice was all gone. So luckily we had phone so we tweeted to some folks to come over for steak dinner. Funks and our friend from the hood stopped by. We had plenty of candles ( I actually made a few with crafty fancy colored wax pellets.) Just enough Booze and plenty of steak. We went for a walk and everyone was out laughing and having a pretty good time! Even saw a light sabre battle up the street. All the bars were open and like I said, there was a pretty good mood in the air. it seemed the neighborhood had some sort of life it never had before.
Right as Melissa and I were walking home the power crept on. We came home to a VERY brightly lit house.
For us it was pretty damn fun and I'm definitely down for another, but i can't imagine being stuck downtown or in an elevator. Sheet.

Re: I have power and you don't....
i had a great time making shadow puppets with my family last night. what i really wanted to do last night was go out and take pictures during the blackout, mainly of the san diego skyline.
i was thinking of taking it from a bridge that overlooked downtown, then having the car lights passing by light up the dark buildings.

Aww I miss blackouts. I was in Brooklyn during the one in 2003. So much fun that night. Was really sweltering hot though. Sounds like you had a blast though Paul.

Re: I have power and you don't....
It was an awesome night for me! Being able to walk my dog at night and actually see the stars. I went to a friend's house later for a little bonfire he had going on his front lawn. We went walking when the marine layer made everything real creepy looking, and man it was fun.

Re: I have power and you don't....
Having a blackout is like taking a trip back in time for a day, or a couple of hours... Sounds like everyone enjoyed having a day off the stress of computers, and technology... When I was in FL and went through the hurricanes in 2004 of 5 we were out of power for close to 2 months, we'd just get the power back on for a day, and another hurricane would hit and knock everything out again... The worst part of it was not having a shower...
