Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
Hmmm, for those that don't know, anything written in purple is- mucking around, sarcasm, joke or something along those line.
Luke is definitely a stellar dude! In my years of collecting, I have not come across anyone making an effort to produce toys specifically for fans that miss out.
Anyway, when these version starts rolling out on ebay or god-forbid on this board then we'll know who the douchebags are.
Unless of course their pet goldfish need the money for plastic surgery

Really, Luke is pumping out a crazy amount of figures, hundreds a week he said on twitter. He's making money. He's not making as much per figure, but he's selling such a large quantity, his model is lower price higher quantity, where as most vinyl companies are higher price lower quantity. It would really be difficult for an American producer to imitate because. A. Producer fees, and additional production costs like wax masters. B. Without dealing directly with the factory I think it would be difficult to just keep ordering hundreds of figures back to back having them shipped over. C. Most of us have a full time job, unless you're making toys full time, you just don't have the time to release that kind of quantity. Again that's just me comparing it to us American makers. The Japanese makers can obviously deal with the factory and don't need an agent, but if you don't do your own wax, you have to use the factory's wax expert, The factory wax is very, very expensive. My jaw dropped when I heard what they wanted for the Cadaver Kid. WELL put Joe. Unfortunately, You can pound it into people ears. But they still refuse this reality.

Paulkaiju wrote: Unfortunately, You can pound it into people ears. But they still refuse this reality. Aw, we love ya Paul. Everything Joe said makes sense. It's just nice to be able to get something that's new and hyped without bending over backwards. I've got CK's and BC's so it's not like you guys are doing anything wrong. It's also pretty obvious that the average Grody paint job isn't as time consuming as a fully worked Boss or even the little Cadaver Kid. While I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing for easier access to some of your guys stuff, I do understand how difficult it can be to handle producing something yourself in a foreign country (first hand). I can only imagine how difficult it is to paint a whole run to such high standards. The truth is that between all the makers just about everyone should have something to like and go after. So, don't mind us grumbling toy nerds and be glad your not an original Star Trek cast member. Talk about having to put up with picky fans!

Yeah just catching up and very well put indeed. I also don't really think everyone understands just how much he is saving. What cost me almost 5 grand is virtually free for him. This is for a single figure, try multiplying these costs. Not to mention he is a sculptor, just think if you had to pay a sculptor how much more that would go up. I think if many makers including myself where in his shoes we would do the same. Honestly I think if all of us could sell for cheaper we would. But after all fees we have involved it would end up costing us money. Perfigure there is , production, molds, prototyping, shipping from Japan as well as all the paint, packaging, shipping supplies etc. the list just goes on and on. For every figure you get there is a LOT that goes into it that you don't see. I had really no clue myself until I made my own.
