Unfortunately, the issue here is that the "hate" is being inflated by people who think that a little criticism is just straight up hate, when it's people just being hyper critical, as they are in the art world when an artist has developed a large amount of fame, or has high expectations set by the people who made them who they are. Yes, we are responsible for Shigeru's fame.

I honestly don't see anyone "shitting" on anyone's parade, I only see people taking offense to comments that don't promote absolute praise for Shigeru's creation. Let me get this out of the way, I dig the zombie, I really do. I'd like to see some other clothes on the little guy, but other than that, he's pretty sick. Sure it upsets me to know I have a bullshit chance of scoring, but I'm not going to pretend to hate it just because I can't score. Now, if someone has a different opinion, I don't give a shit. I'm not going to get defensive. I am not the toy, the toy isn't part of me, and anyone who "insults" the toy isn't insulting me personally, so why should I care? People have the tendency to attach themselves to things. If someone likes something, and someone else criticizes the thing at hand, they take it as a personal attack on them. "If they think the zombie is stupid, then they must think I'm stupid!" Some people may indeed believe that if you like something they have a distaste for, you're stupid for liking it, but that just goes to show how stupid they are for assuming that their opinion is what's right, or that the like or dislike of something so minuscule is the dividing line on what makes a person "intelligent" or "worthy." People act like this is the most common case, when in actuality, I think when people who criticize toys here, more often than not, it's merely for the sake of discussion.
