coma21 wrote: Really like a full on remake thats awesome same plot and everything I was not aware tell me more i like to learn when i am in error Considering that there were people at the Thing screenings who didn't know that it was a prequel, i.e. that there was a film called John Carpenter's Thing, I'm not sure how to take this. Worst thing about the Thing Prequel is that we will now forever be hearing people say they love the original as though that's some sort of thing worth noting, when it should just be a given, akin to "I am a human." I may watch House of the Devil tonight, not seen it in a couple years.

Re: A month of Horror movies!
Well, now I know what I'm putting on tonight... If anyone out there has a ten-foot-pole I could borrow I'm willing to touch the re-re-make with it, but I'm not about to watch it

coma21 wrote: And now i know what I'm watching as well thanks for the post tooth It's *v e r y* different from the Carpenter picture, but quite good. Does a lot with a little, if you know what I mean. If you decide to check it out I'd suggest you have a look at it kind of late and in a dark room (but that's how I think most movies should be watched!). Hopefully it'll charm you.

Re: A month of Horror movies!
Yeah, Carpenter really did something else. See, I don't mind that kind of a remake. Doing something constructive with a previously used idea that just didn't have the creation it should have. I know modern remakes aren't being made to do that though, they just want to cash in on an old name. I mean I don't even consider the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" a remake. It's zombies and a mall and that's about it.
I'm also not totally against this new one since it's a prequel but I probably would'nt bother with it until it's on Netflix or something like that.

Re: A month of Horror movies!
Over the weekend I watched:
In the Mouth of Madness Video Dead Full Moon High
Recently joined this thing that unlocks US netflix for me since I'm in Canada, it's like $5 more a month but it's awesome, tons of gems on there. Think it's called un-block and I'd totally recommend it to Canadians that are dissatisfied with our shitty selection on netflix.
And someone needs to make a zombie head coming out of a TV toy.

^ "In the Mouth of Madness" is such a badass flick! That old white haired man on the bike always creeps me the hell out. I always think about that scene whenever I drive on dark, lonely roads. I need to watch it again this week.

Watched I Saw The Devil lastnight. Outstanding movie! Highly recommended, suspenseful, ultra violent, heart wrenching, action packed gore fest. Movie making with balls! On Netflix streaming or seek out the blu-ray because it's a must own.

No you should definitely forget to watch that, Renee Zellwegar makes me want to puke.
Dennis Hopper kills TCM 2 though. I love the opening scene with the corpse puppet in the truck. WOOOOO!

I love the carpenter film ALOT. but i can see where this has charm its not terrible. In fact it has some fun little quirky moments to it and its three major faults are 1. it takes from aliens 2. it seems like there were whole seems filmed like a idea for the video game.3. the third act leaves you unimpressed... but the begining runs well and the cast is good and while i hate CGI i didnt loathe it in this movie... i could tear it apart if i wanted to but i dont see the point it did what it intended to do...

Re: A month of Horror movies!
A friend of mine has a bit part in Surf Nazis, I'll have to watch it again... Andy Sands.
I watched "the Perfect Host" last night via netflix streaming, pretty decent creepy movie..not really horror but a little bloody/serial killer style action. Worth 90 minutes.

Freaked is awesome. Randy Quaid is great. Also, that is probably Brooke Shields' best role. Haha. Gotta love the rasta eyes.
