Re: A Nag Pa I Root
Thanks for posting those close-up pics. It actually has less detail than I was expecting. It kind of is in the middle between hyper-realistic and toy. I mean, sure skin is generally smooth, but when you consider how much definition is seen in the gore areas, the other parts kind of seem lacking. More texture, or more of a balance would have helped, especially on the maggots. The weird 'cracking' on the NZombie doesn't really seem to fit right for me. And I would still like to see some more tattered and bloodies clothing. I am not trying to being negative, just offering some critique for feedback. It's still a cool toy, and I would take one to play with, but wouldn't shell out the $350 bucks is all.

I do like the NZombii. But I personally don't think I would shell out $350 at least for this version. Maybe I will shell out that much with one with hair? Or crazy colors?

Hmmm. A toy with a penis is one thing. Boogie and Debris Japan are awesome. A toy that clearly woke up on the wrong side of Lorena Bobbit is something I just cannot get. Hacked off penis with balls still attached? Yuck. Why would I want this thing on my shelf? And for $350.00. Nope.

I feel like I can proudly display my Boogies clothed or naked, the aesthetic really goes both ways. As for the Debris Japan sofubi, I don't care that there's a penis underneath that loincloth, I appreciate the anatomically correct presentation. I feel as though it shows a sense of maturity in the artist, like "big deal, it's just a penis, I'll sculpt that shit." I know some people are going to fall to the side of "the grosser the better" with this one, but I'm just not feeling it. I've seen really gross shit... willingly... on many occasions. I enjoy the gross and the grotesque from time to time, very much so, and I think I'm speaking for the majority here, but to me this just feels a bit overplayed. As always, my opinion is subject to change, but as of now, I've never wanted a Boryoku Genjin more than ever before. Bring back the caveman please!

Haha, I like where the line gets drawn "Prolapsed anus, scat-murder and abortion version, cool, bit off weeny? CMON NO!" (I know that's not what you guys said or close, it's satire, just joking around.)I don't think of it as "WHOA GROSS COOL" I think of it as "Haha, zombie got his junk bit off!" Doesn't bother me a bit. It's just silly. EBIII wrote: So much detail so much talent. IMO Yup chimply.kaiju wrote: I do like the NZombii. I don't think I could pay that for this toy. I mean, maybe other versions will blow me away if the paint is nuts and all, but I like to judge toys on a by-release basis. Not as a whole just from 1 release.

I wonder if there is gonna be a future version of the NZombie with a Severed Wiener Omake?! He could carry it in his front pocket.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root
Would that be the "Cock In My Pocket" Iggy version? The only thing I'm having a hard time with this new figure is trying to picture other colors it would look good in. I feel like the problem with any sofubi of a fairly realistic human is that it often only looks good when painted in some fairly realistic human colors. But I could be wrong.

The dividing line where the upper torso meets the bottom seems a bit off to me. I'm not feeling the castrated penis either. I'll have to see the toy completely naked before I make my final judgment. I guess it doesn't really matter if every release is going to have clothes thrown on, but as of now, I don't think I'd display it without the rags. I think HB nailed it for me. I also find those lines annoying and even if the detail in general is there, the maggots kind of remind me of Zollmen papa's cum drops (which I love but with the time spent on all the gore and the missing chunks of flesh I would expect the same attention everywhere).

(I know that's not what you guys said or close, it's satire, just joking around.)Well the line has to be drawn somewhere! I'm sorry, but castrated penis/accentuated camel toe is where I draw that line! Nah, I don't really believe a line should be drawn anywhere, that just goes against art in general. I'm just one critic amongst a large crowd and my opinion is no more valid than the next persons. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot I like about this sculpt, but there's enough praise going around so I just figured I'd point out what I don't appreciate so much. I would still like a full body shot to see Shigeru's work in all it's castrated glory. Really, I think I was just expecting more underneath the rags. It might be a little cliché, but I was hoping to see intestines spilling out all over the place, I've always been a sucker for guts, or something a little more exciting than a castrated penis. Oh, and prolapsed anus trumps castrated penis any day of the week, duh. Shigeru should have given the zombie a prolapsed anus. "Fecal Japan" ver. anyone? Header courtesy of rotten.com.

Even one of the 8 lucky lottery winners doesn't like it. Already up on evil bay. Mishka should get his info and refuse to sell to him.

$350 for real? Guess my guess of $150-$200 was way off.

I'm naive, but I was not expecting gore underneath. I thought there would be some kind of eyes like on the 4 eyes version, on its anus or something

Re: A Nag Pa I Root
I know 350 seems high but for such a complex detailed paint app you would understand if you saw it in hand. Between the paint, clothing and attention to detail I don't know how he was able to do these as a run. It must have took forever. There seems to be a doll eye as well, it's not just a painted eye. To me it seems like shig really wanted a toy where he could spend his time painting how he really enjoys which is a bit more realistic. Also shig is a real cool guy, seems to always be in good spirtis last night. It's was great to hang out with the guy

You think 350 is too much, I'd love to see how much it fetches when flipped.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root
I love this toy. I finally have a zombie I can use when my daughter wants to play Barbies. Also who said his penis was bitten off? Maybe it just fell off.
Seriously, hanging out with Shigeru this weekend was a blast. Hearing about the process and talking to him, you could really tell he puts his heart and soul into each toy and it shows. No picture on the internet will ever convey that. Im sure the people who bought one will agree with me on this. There's a lot of toymakers out there that have lost that and it's refreshing to still see it. Also everyone is complaining about the price. It's like hearing people complain about the price of a Lambo or a mansion. "Damn! How much? But it's just a car or a house!" Any of the toy manuf and customizers that saw this toy will all agree it was Way more work than any Gargamel 1-off and how much do you guys pay for those? You feel me?

Re: A Nag Pa I Root
"when" flipped? I think you mean "after a few more days" And it'll probably be insane. Again, those high ass Nag prices of +$1,000, less then a handful of people are paying that. So I'm sure it'll be one of 4-5 people as usual going nuts. My price woe isn't a complain and has NOTHING to do with lack of respect for Shig, I just don't care about this one. I also don't care for the "Dead Meat" Nags and was never into them, not a bloody flesh pile guy. Now gimme one that's similar to the Black Nag or some other versions and I'm interested! Hair?! OH DAMN!

I know exactly who the flipper / flippers are. It's fucking lame to tell you how much they like your stuff to your face and then flip it the same night. Totally wack ....

Re: A Nag Pa I Root
It was great seeing you Rich and glad you could meet Shig. Yeah I figured you would totally agree because only people who actually make and paint the toys could ever understand.
One more thing, just to give you guys a glimpse of Shigeru's perfection standard, I watched him staple the header cards on the bags. He was so meticulous that he removed the staple a few times on each bag because he wanted it to sit perfectly with the card.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root
Also Shigeru's bummed about the guy who photo that Tara version. That was a private meeting he had at the con with her to discuss the collaboration. Whoever took those photos did it on the sneak tip and didn't even ask for permission. Fucked up and you owe Shig and Tara an apology
