Post Metalion Slayer Mag Diaries
page 365 was written by me with a photo by me...

The same article is also the first chapter of EsoTerra the book.

Thanks to Alex for pointing this out!

If you have Metalion's book, what do you think about it?

Yo no problem. When you told me at Comic Con you had contributed to it, it kind of blew my mind. The book is INTENSE. It could literally kill someone. Jam packed with so much black metal. The only thing it doesn't come with is a match to burn a church down.

PS- its for sale here at S7.

I'll throw in a free of pack that says Burzum "aske" if you buy the book.

I'm not a rabid metal fan - just a bibliophile. I bought it for the obsessive nature of the book itself. I loved it.

I would love to see a similar big hardcover collection of 80's punk/hardcore zines.

Coop,
There was one done a few years ago of skate zines by Rich Jacobs. It was not nearly as deluxe as this but was JAMPACKED. It literally hurt my eyes to look at it but was amazing at the same time. Small and thick.

It's called "There is Xerox on the inside of your eyelids"

Alex, one of the things I liked about extreme music in the '90s was that it didn't matter what camp you were into, all was permissable.

That was part of what EsoTerra was all about but with a narrower focus...
and it was pre-internet, mostly.

England's Terrorizer magazine always got extreme music from the git-go. I could read about Current 93 and Earth Crisis in the same magazine. Say what you will about media journalism, but you could find out about all sorts of genres and bands from this magazine.

I got to write for the mag in '96 and '97 and I am glad to see that it is still around.

As for Slayer Magazine, I use to send out copies of EsoTerra to like-minded magazines everywhere.
These included Descent magazine and Slayer Magazine, among others.

Along the way I got to correspond with Metalion, Samoth, Ihsahn, and Mortiis to name a few...
and that is how the whole "welcome to norway" section came about in the EsoTerra book.

Ah, Descent... I still have my copy of their black metal issue somewhere around here. Ajna/Tyler (and O'Malley) was involved in that publication, right?
