Tokyo (colorway) Rising.... show your love!!
So i kinda wanna do a little short form style essay on the love affair we all have with the tokyo colorway. So i was hoping you all could help a tad with opinions , fun facts and of course pictures of tokyo color pieces. I think it would be really fun to get peoples perspectives on the colorway as well as moments in history and classic uses of it. So please feel free to show what you got.

This is an awesome idea. I tried to look up information on this a while ago and gave up. A history of the colors would be great.

Re: Tokyo (colorway) Rising.... show your love!!
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=35500The Name "Tokyo" came from a blobpus toy, it was a color scheme patterned after a classic Hedorah, and labeled "Tokyo" they also made a "Hawaii" colorway blobpi. The names just stuck to that color scheme, and the rest is history... Sort of...

Re: Tokyo (colorway) Rising.... show your love!!
'Tokyo' is just a modern name sort of given to the yellow, black, green, red colorway. Vintage guys will say it's just another take on the Bullmark Hawaiian colorway, specifically the Bullmark Hedorah. Personally even if it is incorrect, I like using the term Tokyo because so many things can be Hawaiian. Here is my Tokyo/Hawaiian shelf (Gamerudon is just fronting he's Tokyo): Hawaii Five-O by Beautification Syndrome, on Flickr

Re: Tokyo (colorway) Rising.... show your love!!
So what about this colorway catches peoples eye i mean from a creator stand point is it just simple homage or is it a general love of the color way i see alot of customizers using it and its been used by everyone from S7 to Cure so i wonder what each companys thoughts are when using the tokyo/hawiian colorway

Re: Tokyo (colorway) Rising.... show your love!!
probably just homage, i neither create nor collect this colorway but it looks cool- same difference with garamon tributes and frankenruge tributes, just super classic and timeless colorways that generally look cool when applied to different toys.

I don't collect either, but I agree they look cool. I think it's just cool have a common theme to tie a bunch of different toys together.

doesn't do anything for me... granted the colors are a classic, but I can't stand every thing kaiju has to be made with a neon color of some sort. thrash out colors are the only day I like 'em.

Seeing as you can't stand all that neon, I'll take that Doji San off your hands...

^^^^ Quite a nice tokyo family there. Love seeing the doku rocks figure mixed in there. I still need to find the pink version of it. KillerJ did a tokyo version of the Smoking star that would look nice with the rest of your figures.

Re: Tokyo (colorway) Rising.... show your love!!
I heard somewhere that the "Tokyo" sprays on GID/white vinyl rather than typical yellow is called "Toxic" instead. (Like the 2011 LB GID Zag)
Any truth to this?
