these look like a lot of fun. i didn't think glyos joints could be used on such meaty, chunky parts.
is that earthworm jim in the back?

is that earthworm jim in the back? Urethane to urethane Glyos joints are tricky...luckily I use $$$ uv resistant urethane that can be heated and adjusted to stay tight (heating up the male pin and gently squishing it down until room temp). Earthworm Jim...that is great! Naw, just my son MJ's sculpt that he put on my studio work space in hopes of me molding and casting it for him, which is not gonna happen...I've already molded and cast a bunch of his pieces and I am holdin' out for him to complete a really kewl slime monster he has been off and on working on since summer.

these should be hitting resin soon. I have made some changes to the hand (beat it up a bit) so I'll drop some new pics of that soon.

Re: Pheyden/Exellis/Crayboth Action Figures - get these!
^^Reminds me of Chaos-related stuff from the Warhammer 40k universe! I like! And, Marty, jesus dude...your shit's ALWAYS off the hook! I'd LOVE to see the Armorvors make it to PVC... And speaking of which, it's been a while since I've posted in this thread. I've done a little recent catching up in the Glyos universe. First up, I grabbed a couple Glyans from the last Onell drop. Very Zentraedi-themed colors! These figures come with a couple heads and a simple multi-piece gun. The sorta generic scifi head can be flipped around depending on what style you like, Metroid or Mospeada! And then, there's another humanoid head that I think is Doughty's first take on such a human-looking face. I totally love it: Very handsome, no? In fact, that's how Doughty refers to the Glyan figure overall: a very "handsome" form. Broad-shouldered, straight-legged, normal-sized head...not deformed like Pheyden, Exellis, and the other classic travelers. I like this style. Kinda gives me this Air Raiders or Starcom minifig vibe, y'knowmsayin? Anyway, along with these dudes, I also grabbed some "axis joints". Holy fuck. Okay, we don't have actual ball joints for Glyos figures yet, but these things come DAMN close to being able to simulate them: ... But you know what's legitimately driving me nuts right now? The Big Rig. Holy shit...I was totally on the fence about picking one of these up because even though I love the Jetfire tribute, I think the toy would look fucking HOT in drab, militaristic "real-type" colors. If and when they release one like that, I'll probably sell this and pick up the real-type. What's interesting for me is that I never actually got around to picking up a standard Rig when they first came out. I hesitated from the start because even though it looked like it could be a fun toy, none of the colors of the released versions really impressed me. In terms of raw play value, it just seemed a bit too simple to me. But the addition of the huge wing/booster arms and the piled-on weapon bits make the Rig SO much more amazing. Now, I know a lot of heads hate the whole " look! I can lie down on my face...therefore, I'm a Transformer!" thing...but this is a VINYL toy that manages to pull it off convincingly enough, in my opinion. And believe it or not, it sorta has three modes like a Macross Valkyrie! Check it: This is a sort of transport mode. I wish the joints were tighter because it's pretty easy to knock the limbs out of alignment...thus making this "mode" kinda awkward-looking. Maybe Doughty will address that in a later version. But for now, I get that it looks like a somewhat random pile of shapes...but at least it's a neat pile of shapes! I really shoulda taken a pic of a regular figure riding on top of it... Aiight, twist a few parts, tilt the thing upright, and you get the sorta-GERWALK mode: Okay, it's more akin to a Destroid from Macross than a Valk's GERWALK mode. It's short, it's stubby, and it's got big-ass cannon-arms! I fucking love this mode...but again, like an ass, I'm now realizing that I shoulda pictured it with some regular Glyos figures standing next to it for scale. Aiight, turn it around, rotate the arms, and you have the battroid: It's kinda humanoid-ish...right? Well, whatever...I think this mode looks pretty sharp, myself. Here, you can really feel the Jetfire w/super armor vibe. And now that I'm writing and thinking about this more, I'll add one thing to my Glyos wishlist: I'd love some sort of real-type color version of the Big Rig...but I also want some matching Glyans (with matching tampo-printed insignia!) to go with it. I think that'd be pretty killer!

I just got my first Onell Callgrim trooper. And rocked some of L'amour's Shadow Trooper sculpts on it. So badass. PS: As this is my first trooper to own, I am REALLY impressed by the production and design of these guys! And with all the new headsculpts and accessories coming out, I hope to own more.

That artwork is so awesome, man. One question, though: are you planning on doing melee weapons for these guys??? I think some high-tech looking swords, axes, and other weird shit like that would be absolutely perfect to complete the homage!

Bro, it was a pleasure meetin' you briefly @ NYCC...thanks 4 makin' sure my son & my friend could purchase those 2 complete sets of your Glyos heads. Both of them have been waiting a couple of years to get complete sets of them. Thanx 2 4 the props...same w/ your work...I check your Flicker page & totally dig your style and characters! Doughty and I have been kickin' around this idea since 2005...I really wanted my friend Jason Frailey in on it (his sculpting is beyond impressive) and this is the result of a triple collab. TGB

Eric over at OneShot toys really works fast, He received the molds on Saturday and casting has already been started. These are a few test shots in GITD blue, Resin is white-ish in daylight but glows a very nice blue.

I love the blue-glow parts! Can't wait to see these come out. Now, are you planning on painting these (or maybe just applying a quick stain/wash to bring out the surface details)? The only criticism I have of resin infused with glow powder is that it has a very slight milky translucence to it. Nothing wrong with that, but the sharper details of the sculpt often get visually lost...

At the moment the plan was the paint a few sets, and washes can definitely be done on the glows on request as well. I Am The Fourth wrote: I love that zombie-head sculpt! Cool shots, Marty! The articulation on the Armorvor guy (is his name "Venjorun"? I'm trying to figure out these proper nouns!) is pretty impressive. I'm assuming that the angled cuts on the elbow joints allow the segments to be rotated so that the arms actually appear straight. Also, what's the story on that Glyos-looking walker-thing? And the little bug dude? Oh, and Marty, check your e-mail dude. Troy, that Chaos-y Glyos figure is coming along great. Are you planning on sculpting all-new feet, too?

Thanks dude! Yup, he'll be completely sculpted in the end.

The "Glyos-looking walker-thing" is a "Repoclaimer Soldier" collaboration w/ Doughty (I sculpted/molded/produced) based on his large "Repoclaimer" sculpt (search his sight or my blog for photos/links of it). The bug is the "Eidrallim" Cricket "Bio Jumper" that Doughty and I collaborated on (I sculpted/molded/produced). Got your email bro...I am way too swamped and to be quite honest, I am not interested in producing anymore Muscles (for several reasons...too many guyz doing it now, some Muscle collectors are jerk-offs/punks, and honestly, they just don't interest me right now at all). Sorry I was pretty ill last week when I got your email and ended up forgetting to reply. TGB

ooze-it wrote: The "Glyos-looking walker-thing" is a "Repoclaimer Soldier"... No shit? Ha! I remember when he sculpted the first full-size one outta Delrin and plumber's compound. It was one of his early ideas for a vinyl figure, before he conceived of the Armodoc. Glad to see the design's back. And I feel like I've heard the name "Eidrallim" before...maybe from one of the Passcode games? Anyway, as always, impressive stuff on the drawing board... And no sweat on the e-mail...being busy and sick at the same time is a shitty combo. But, yeah, LOTS of folks doing Muscles these days. I still dig 'em, but I hope I'm not a punk or a jerk-off! Anyway, given how advanced the stuff you're doing has become and how tight these collaborations have gotten, I can totally see how you wouldn't want to go *backwards*. Keep rising, brotha!
