Whether its insured or not, with this tracking number Paypal will cover any loss to the buyer if the package goes 'missing' - and - the seller will not be held responsible by Paypal, but remember, for international mailing, you must use Express mail to get that valid Paypal recognized tracking number and you must use Paypal's standard payment method to get this protection. So? This doesn't negate the other issues brought up about jp sales etc. Russblue11 wrote: I think andy's complaint was directed at sales held here on the boards...

But we can't control how companies/anonymous people on yja sell their toys, while we can change the way we sell toys here

 Re: "US only"
What is this whole argument about anyway? I mean, what's the point? Are we talking about banning the seller's right to choose to whom and where they sell their items? It all boils down to an individual's right to choose. I personally don't agree with sales specifying no international shipping. There is enough of a separation already what with YJA and many companies refusing international shipping. We collectors need to help each other out as much as possible when it comes to getting sought after toys into the hands of our counterparts overseas. This goes for all sides. But in the end, it's up to each individual to choose where they ship to.

I ship overseas. another form to fill out. not a big deal. Haven't been screwed yet. knock on wood.
But there will be no policy on skullbrain banning "US Only" sales. Every seller has the right to decide how and who they sell to.
sorry.

Hey, and when I was in NYC a few months ago, didn't I go out of my way to give you a heads up about the Gargamel custom you were after? Yeah, I think I did.
Seriously, dude. I should know better than this... Individual collectors sell things on YJA, no? Why not try and force THEM to sell internationally and boycott YJA...let's be fair here, right? What does giving me a "heads up" on anything have to do with your expecting people not to sell their private property the way they want to? "seriously, dude." knock yourself out on your reply...but even if you GAVE me the custom you're talking about I'd still disagree with why you started this thread. One has nothing to do with the other. If I expected people to agree with me just because I gave them some tidbit of information (something I do all day EVERY day with complete strangers) I'd be able to run the world like a puppetmaster.

 Re: "US only"
i have been rejected by some sellers quoting 'US Only' when i was chasing rare items. they weren't courteous at all and fire me with '...no way i'm shipping internationally. i got nothing but problems from that and i can find other US buyers...' i understand where they're coming from because if there's issues, the buyer takes the risk all the time.
but then again, if you go with tracking, there's no way that your item can get lost in transit - unless it is the seller who cancelled the transit himself/herself with USPS before it even got dispatched to the airport. classic example of what i got 2yrs back with a rare t-shirt.
bollocks to sellers of such nature. probably just my luck in that forum.

Out of curiousity..have you been denied multiple purchases based on a seller being adamant on US only shipping? Or are you just annoyed that people list items that way. You've been on the board awhile so I question why someone wouldn't want to sell to you.I would and I would sell to any familiar longtime sber that is overseas but am hesitant with overseas people I don't recognize or know. I always "list" US only because I've been burned 3 times however...I DO ship overseas. i make sure I ship insured with tracking. If someone wants to have a package shipped overseas 'cheap' I don't have an issue with it as long as I have in 'writing' that I'm not accountable if the package gets lost.

I appreciate the thoughtful replies, including responses from people explaining why they've had trouble shipping overseas (believe me, having stood in those long lines at US post offices and dealt with the staff there, I DO sympathize). I also appreciate the helpful responses detailing ways to save time, get quotes online, etc. This thread is meant to attract attention to the issue and air out both sides. I think we've covered a lot of ground and made excellent progress. El pueblo unido jamás será vencido.

 Re: "US only"
I generally agree with selling everywhere, but after dealing with some true postal service insanity at my local post office (long story short: the clerks suddenly became ultra aggressive & I was told mailing something the same way I have been mailing it for years was “wrong” because they wanted to up-sell me; I complained and quoted postal code and now they are better) I can understand why someone would want to avoid dealing with clerks for foreign shipments.
But that said, some countries deserve the stink-eye for questionable buyers and services. Like Italy & Mexico; those two countries raise red flags for me and I am 4x extra cautious selling to anyone from there.
Also—not for nothing—the U.S. dollar sucks and is weak. Foreign currency is stronger. So letting someone with better buying power buy your items makes sense.

 Re: "US only"
What I think it all boils down to is a sellers comfort level with the buyer. If there is good communication and they seem sincere I don't have a problem. I don't think it's something that should be enforced though. Curious Andy? Were you denied something here because you lived outside the US?
Lorne does bring up a great point about yja sellers. I still cannot understand why yahoo japan auctions has not made their site internationally friendly to promote more exporting out of Japan? Given the strong yen you would think sellers would welcome foreign buyers, especially on something you pretty much you can only get from Japan! What the hell happened to that eBay yja merge talked about years ago?

If you've bought from someone that lives outside the US, but deny that same person a sale because you won't ship outside the US, you're an ass.

 Re: "US only"
I have been ripped off by the US post office.
The Post Office Inspector General will not even provide details of what happened despite my request through the Freedom of Information Act. As a US citizen, I would expect this to be business as usual in some third world country, but it just goes to show corruption is not limited to remote corners of the globe. My meager collection would be almost nothing without this board, so thank you to everyone, international and domestic, for putting plastic in an envelope and accepting my currency. my understanding of toy karma is that I should be as gracious as to ship overseas if asked to should I ever get around to starting a for sale thread.
