more pictures

Image
Devilboy Skullbee- from the first "It Came From Skullbrain" Show I believe. You can't see it in this pic, but it has a perfect circle in the gold splatter in the center of its head. It was so perfect I had to ask Toby how he managed it- he said it was just the way it splattered. I love it!

Image
Monstens Skullbrain- He once did this fantastic Space Barbarian custom, a clear base body with a great yellow and pink paint pour on the inside. I asked him if he'd sell it to me when I saw the images, but he had already stripped it and repainted it. I've done that a few times to customs I've done, so I understand when you want to paint but don't have anything to paint- he did this guy up for me instead and I was super happy to get it. I wonder where Monstens is nowadays?

Image
Long before Luke/Grody Shogon did his custom "You color it, I'll paint it" run at NYCC this year, I had my then 5 year old niece color in a pumpkin brain template for me, and I told her I'd paint a toy to match it. This is was it. I still have her original colored page too, I'll have to scan it one day. I think I captured the spirit of a 5 year old in this one.

Image
One of my Skulloctopuses from the collab I did with Bob this year... Only two sold and I felt bad about it. I guess no one was really wowed with my paintjob, but it was the first "official" collab where I painted real Japanese vinyl, and I was honored. I hope to collaborate with other makers one day- if anyone wants me to paint for them, let me know! ;)

Image
Boss Carrion one-off from NYCC'10- the Buttercup prototype with girlie topper. I think this is a really early painted Boss. Its the only painted one I own.

Image
Custom Greasbat/Gatchamecha Mashup from Dustin- I love a good mashup and this one is fun. Oozebat looks really good as a cyborg. This was originally painted for ICFSB 2 I believe.

Image
Sludge Demon, from one of the small runs @ NYCC'11- It weirdly matches perfectly with a fullsized Rangeas I painted up in a really classic paintscheme with metallic blues and red. Thanks again Rich!

Image

Two Cumberlain Mashups by me- "it came to conquer the world Championship" & and the "Astro-Zombie" (both are bad puns I know) but I like them. I tried to sell the Skullbrain/Cumberlain Mashup and the Sleazebat Mashup that goes with it several times with now luck. I think it's cursed to stay in my possession... I guess thats not a bad thing.

Image
Skullbee by Gatchabert- one of my favorites from Bert. This pic just seemed really badass to me for some reason!

Thanks! I just took those guys out of their normal shelves and arranged them specifically for a blue shot... I'll probably do yellow or pink next.

Also, for a thread about my collection changing, I've consistently had a Transformer collection for about 15 straight years now. Stuff has come and gone, but my love for G1 Transformers will always be there!

I do not, repeat, do not endorse or encourage anyone to collect blank vinyl toys. They are lame compared to the wonderful painted versions thy are out there. Blank toys = bad news.

But you make it look so damn good, this coming from a devout unpainted despiser -- Really sweet shelves.

From the outside it may look good, all carefree and easy living, but it's not. It's a constant struggle seeking out new pieces.. It's a life of turmoil because there are awesome releases coming out all over the place but rarely are there unpainted versions made available. When you need your fix and you just can't get it, you may consider drastic measures; like stripping... The paint from a toy. But that would just ruin your reputation and your self esteem. I've never crossed that line. I won't strip for blank toys. Can you say the same? Stay away from blanks!!!

Plus unpainted stuff is boring. Who'd want to collect this crap. Don't buy blank vinyl kids. If you have unpainted stuff just send it to Phil, he will properly dispose of it into his collection. It's the best thing to do before you become addicted.

If blank toys = bad news. Stripping toys = 8th deadly sin.

So true, i have only a couple of blanks and their not enough to form a shelf of their own, so they're just lying around on my work table until i can reinforce their numbers.

Great collection thou! 8)

Like how they say chefs don't take their work home, looks like you don't apply it on your collection!
