Thanks everybody - haven't watched any of the second season so far (and probably won't bother), because I feel that after a truly great pilot it all went downhill really fast within the first season, but this thread is highly entertaining!

I agree. The pilot was great, and whaddaya know, it followed the comic pretty closely. It has been downhill ever since. After last night's episode, I am quickly running out of patience.

So I thought last night was a step in the right direction towards redeeming the 2nd season. Shane pretty much continues to be the only member of the cast actually using his head. The sequence with Daryl, dreaming about Merle, killing those walkers was pretty bad ass. I mean making a zombie ear necklace and eating a raw squirrel after smashing ones head in followed by pulling out an arrow out of himself to kill the second one? That's one tough redneck.

If it wasn't for Daryl I probably would have quit this show by now. I agree though last nights epp was pretty decent.

Last night's episode was a pretty fun watch. Andrea still reigns as biggest dunce on the show. I loved her little breath of contentment after she skimmed Daryl's sideburn, still assuming he was a walker. She was so proud in that moment, and I was just hoping Dale would grow some balls and slap her in the back of the head instead of coddling after.

Although I could have done without the badass tunes they were bumpin' after Daryl had the vision of Merle and went all Gung-Ho. Always something to cheese it up with this guy.

So, by now, I am hoping last night's epi was seen by most that still care and I won't give away the ending, but..

This shit with the walkers in the barn is just lame. What? Nobody noticed them until now? Like walkers are prone to just quietly sit around waiting to yell surprise? Gimme a break! The dude brings up his horse is missing, but fails to bring up the fact that he keeps his zombified farm hands in the barn? "Oh, btw, dont nobody open the barn door, lest them walkers spill out.."

I am betting good money that either Merle and/or the little girl will be found in that barn.

And never mind Daryl's half-ass ploy to get his head blown off by doing his walker routine, but who shoots through a crowd of people (from Andrea's point of view) like that? She quite obviously could see them and easily say to herself "they've got it covered, no need to make a loud-ass noise to let other walkers now shit is going down here".

Only 2 zombies whacked. Too much interpersonal drama, not enough zombie bashing, imho. The last one Daryl put down was choice tho..

I'll probably keep watching 'cause I'm an idiot and watched worse shit on syfy. Their Zombie Apocalypse is repeating tonight btw. It's pretty good for my taste.

He really is the best character on the show right now. I thought for sure they were going to kill him off last night.

she cant even aim a pistol at close range... what makes her think she can shoot through a crowd of people, with a rifle, and actually be on target...

hell she even went into prone position, and grazed him... what a dumb hoe... she needs to clean her pistol and do the job she was trying to before!

I don't think Merle or Sofia are in the barn, I would tend to believe its family members that they didn't have the will to put down, unlike what happened with Andrea & Amy.

I am curious in regards to how you spawn a barn full of zombies, unless everyone in there was infected at once the hoard would tear into whatever fresh meat you throw them.

Could be right. Perhaps the old doc is expecting or experimenting to find a zombie cure or som'n..

As a student of animal herding, such a veterinarian farmer might be, it 's not to difficult to lure them in there and yank out bait through the overhead opening.

So then. What of Sofia's rag doll Daryl found in the woods, not so far from the horse he fell off of? I mean there are coincidences and there are coincidences, but this one's a whale! Horses dont wander off into the woods by themselves, do they?

Last night was for sure best episode of the season.

Though I knew they were coming from the books, still curious to see how they handle the barn zombies in the show.

Yup this is my gripe. If they knew she was there, why the hell would they let them keep on about her. Annoying !!!

I'm done. I've tried to watch this season, give it a chance, figuring they were just off to a slow start. The writing is almost comical (no pun intended). It really is lame. Show is all soap opera, none of the characters appear to be anything like the people they were in Season 1. I really like how Shane is being a realist and adjusting to the world but this episode he over acted the psycho bit. Dale I'd like to just kill for being mother hen. Hershel is a moron, Rick is weak, Daryl season 1 would kill Daryl season 2, Lori is whiny, I like T-Dog but he gets like one line a episode. The whole show has gone into over acted soap opera mode and we now get a 2.5 month break. Great job AMC ruining a once promising show.

I hoping for a change come next half. This entire first half was all Darabont, so maybeeee the next with an entire new writing staff will be different.

Didn't think about that. But, if he did catch her, it would have been almost immediately after she ran off. So I'm thinking maybe not. Who knows though, it's so hard to figure out a timeline of events. For all I know Lori and Shane hooked up 72 hours after the appocolipse. Ricks body wouldnt have even been cold yet.

I hear you Rich. I have the season pass from iTunes so I'm stuck anyway. I just can't get past this farm setting. I read the comics but it feels like they've spent an eternity on this damn farm. It's just sunny and bright all day long like the entire season was filmed in a week this past summer. I know there were budget cuts but besides the herd in the premiere, the school with Otis & Shane did it ever really feel like these people were in danger? I could have been watching Dallas not Walking Dead. Any zombie attack in the last 4 episodes has been really lame and fodder to just have them say: "see we have zombies" Well zombie was a perfect example. Contradictions in dialog each week, for example:

Hershel's claim a few weeks ago that he didn't know how these people survived this long, then says in this episode "they're strong they'll be just fine". The writing team must be complete morons.

It's all just not dark enough for me. I don't even need more zombies, just make me feel like these people are in danger. Lose the sunny farm, hell film in the rain or at night, anything just get them on the road and in danger again. Hey here's a novel idea? Wasn't there music in sequences in season one to set the mood? Not this year.

also: how did the walkers not tear sofia up when they found her ? they ripped Otis apart...

did she not taste good ? does she have an adamantium skeleton ? am I turning into that crazy lady from Misery ?

Since zombies apparently like chicken, maybe an escaped zombie chicken pecked Sophia and infected her? Makes as much sense as 10 or more people doing nothing to stop Shane from opening the barn except yelling at him to stop.
