Post SPiKE WAD
I have a new toy in the works from Unbox, called Spike Wad. I just saw the vinyl test pulls today and love it. Lately I have been digging the sculpted Gorilla hair, so we went with a similar effect for the fuzzy spider hair. He/she has four arms that are sort of jutting out from the body. I sort of modeled that after one of my favorite childhood monsters from HR Puf-n-stuf, it was Witchie Poo's little spider friend.

Also, this toy is interchangeable with M5 Bravo and Stee Gar, so that should be fun. Thanks to the success of those figures I'm gonna make various vinyl colors this time, so there will be plenty of glow vinyl, snot green vinyl etc. M5 Bravo and Stee Gar also will be cast in glow and clear vinyl down the road. Unbox has been amazing as far as willing to produce ideas I get, and I wouldn't be in that position without the generous support of the Skullbrain crew!!

Here's the header card......

thanks guys.

Awesome, I have yet to get an M5 or Stee Gar, but another addition couldn't hurt!

Post Re: SPiKE WAD
thanks guys, I'm very pleased with the final sculpt/vinyl test pull. I've attached a small photo of the sculpted toy, super secret please don't repost anywhere.

The vinyl test pull looks almost identical. Flocked is an option for down the road- as long as we can get gristly GI Joe style hair!

Yeah looking good Jeff. I think I said it before, but I hope you can create one in the gold colorway (electric lemon?) you released star gee and m-5 bravo in. I'd like a trio in the same colorway.

duly noted, electric lemon! I'm actually working on the color charts this weekend, I'll make sure to squeeze in a lemon run.

That test pull is incredible! I love the texture of all of those tiny hairs on this guy. And I'm really digging the eyes and teeth! I can't wait to have this guy in hand. And yes! Electric Lemon FTW! :D

full header card.... like I said, Unbox has graciously allowed more variations in the vinyl this time around, so there will be lots of fun color applications.

...I've been looking at the little guy (girl?) with his four arms outstretched , it is crying out for hugs!

Bristly little spider haired hugs, with a risk of dripping venom.

does that mean they didn't allow you to cast in different colors before? is that why all the interchangeable fellas are in white?

Pretty much. I suppose "allow" is the wrong word, it was more of a budgetary issue.

At the time the producer was taking a great monetary risk by producing my figures- so keeping costs low was a concern. One way to do that was cast them all in white. This time I have free reign. woo hoo!

Also, the success of these figures means some recasting of M5 Bravo and Stee-Gar in glow vinyl and maybe clear. I want to do an M5 Bravo with a mechanical guts insert sometime down the road.

Post Re: SPiKE WAD
that's great to hear about having more freedom to experiment with vinyl bases. i never thought about the initial investment outlay on the part of the producer/manufacturer/distributor because i assumed that the customer (you) would be paying for everything in advance. much to learn!

but the real meat of your message is this:

mechanical guts :!:

i also wouldn't mind if you jumped on the current trend bandwagon of unpainted mixed color parts :)
