Post Re: A Nag Pa I Root
I have to say, I expected something like this, as the price was glaringly omitted from all release information on this Nag. I know it is a privilige to own one and all, but come on, it is not cool to blindside people with what they have to pay for it. What if it was 1500$, would it still be okay then? Fact is, given the hypez and demand, I am not saying it is unreasonable, but I think this was unexpected. And the auction...well, how much more need to be said. It is one thing for collectors/aftermarket to sell for what they want, but here the distributor is essentially acting like its own flipper (see Ticketmaster anyone?). Uncool. Boo-urns.

i was thinking the same thing...

even though it would never happen (probably).. open run at 100 a pop- it would surpass 3000 easily and people wouldnt have to pay ridiculous prices or deal with shady live ebay auctioneering.

oh well

i don't even know if shig has the funds to pay for that large of a run? Maybe I'm wrong but he might make enough just to get by? Who knows. Congrats to those who won. Congrats to those who have $500 still in their pocket by the end of black friday.

I could have sworn either Tara or CCM posted a $200 price tag. When I saw it I was surprised that it would cost less than the 11.11 lottery. I guess either they had the price and then got rid of it or i'm dilusional because I can't find that post anymore.

Yeah that video was really hard to watch. Any fun that was being had, sounded really forced. On top of that there was a price originally announced as a $200 black friday sale, on Tara's website. It was obviously changed, but still... I'm guessing that's why the first guy that won it, didn't have enough money for it with him.

I know there are plenty of people that would love a mixed part pre order blank run.

Post Re: A Nag Pa I Root
Well I just got back from the Nag debacle, I mean release, at CCM, and I want to call bullshit on how this was handled. I'm okay with one going for an email lotto, cool give other people a chance that can't get there, $500 price tag is a little steep, I would have paid it if I won, but whatever. I too can swear that I saw a $200 price tag for these originally or we could all be confusing the info on the Nag3 page where they were listed at 200yen which would equal $250, and if you double that = $500, which is what most galleries/shops are going to do. My real problem was the whole auction bullshit with the last one, first off they started the bidding at $450, really? wow! how kind of you. I started to call bullshit at this point but for some reason the auction footage is missing from Greg's video, so you can't see them pull out the whole "20% will go to charity" line when me and a couple of others called them on it as bullshit. I would have been fine not winning the lotto as I'm sure the others there would have been also, but to pull some lame as stunt like that to line your pockets is just wack.

other then that it was a pretty cool night, got to meet some new people, hang with some friends, eat brauts and drink big ass beers and check out Mishka HQ (Greg's office is bonkers), not bad..

I dont know. I just had a fun night just seeing my skullbrain homies. Big shout out to Tara and Sean for having us.
Meeting new faces from SB is what gets /keeps me pumped on the vinyl scene. I don't know but I have to say the NYC skull krew will kick any other city's
Skull krew. Hands down and we challenge any other krew to a game of dodge ball.

LOL awkward is a understatement for what when on in that video, holy fuck. The first dude who didn't have enough money for the NEW price...that says it all. I would have bought that guy a 6 pack or something. The whole thing is just funny, its not even a toy anymore, NNN is like a promotional company now. Maybe NNN can sponsor our company holiday party. Oh well, it was a cool toy while it lasted.

The hardest part was the long har guy announcing the new price, and I don't just mean because of the price hike, but because watching him sell these things off with lack of knowledge beyond their value was equivalent to my Grandma selling them.

And yea Joel I agree just hanging with boardies is what matters, thats next to all I care about in this scene anymore.

The NNN phenomenon gets more retarded with every release and guys are still buying into it . . . who's dumber!

Auctioning the last one . . . real smooth!

Haha It wasn't just the first guy, pretty much everyone they picked first had to defer, and the runners up won. Maaad awkward.. I haven't seen the video, but my face must have gone sheet white after the price was announced. Would have preferred to stay at the bar if I knew what was about to go down. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

But yeah, good times were had. Thanks for making the night better after that shit guys!

I'm willing to bet, at least 1 will find its way to eBay.

Wow, so CCM is now on strike 2 for a lot of people. Nice way to show your love for these toys and supporters.

This is probably true, and now that CCM has graciously set the price so high in the name of CHARITY, I'm sure the flipper won't have a problem gratiously doubling or tripling that in the name of his bank account.

You know, on that note, if I really felt like this was a charity event, I don't think I'd feel so bad, but they advertised the shit out of this and maybe mentioned charity once, if at all. Then at the event they were all about charity. It just stunk all around, mostly of greed. This is what it was: "You suckers seem to want this real bad, so we're going to take this last one and give it to the sucker who'll pay the most." It just made me feel dumb and cheap.

Again, gotta stay positive. The pros outweighed the cons last night.

Actually let me throw in strike 3. Remember that 100 pieces for $100 dollars show she had back in like April. They advertised a bunch of nice stuff like kathie olvias and andrew bell and even a Mark "friiggin" Ryden sketch. Well after standing online for 3 hours. I actually was able 2 walk away with 2 pretty cool wooden pieces. When we went to pick them up a month later, Sean " the guy announcing" let it slip that him and TAAA-ra "picked" first and grabbed up the Mark Ryden piece. I don't know but in my book thats seems to be super dick. Never liked her. This just adds more to the fire.

Plus fucking 1. $500? Fuck off.

Who is the dick making that announcement. I could feel the awkwardness wash over me when he said that and Greg said "reaction shot!" or something along those lines.

at least they got into the hands of REAL* fans....

*ones with deepest pockets

i feel bad for that guy too.

and the idea that the price doubled to coincide with galleries doing the same? CCM didnt show these pieces, they arent up for a month incurring rent needed to pay for the space. did tara even paint these? or just choose the colors?

the original art was over priced as well, 600 each for black ink drawings, i would have been happy getting a color silks screen print of this..

Hermmm, well I hadn't see this art up close that much, and had not noticed, the er...tongue, before. This whole debacle does not seem to be doing that much for the NNN image, but a whole lot for Tara at any rate.
