I still get a kick out of watching this awful show in a room full of nerds at my local comic shop every week, yelling out derogatory commentary and winning (or giving out) beers for every obvious production value mistake... Camera rig reflected in mirror that actor in scene is focusing on? WINNER fake fiberglass deer in the background of pivotal dramatic scene? WINNER WINNER WINNER

But I did notice how Rick was giving a speech in front of the barn with daylight shining through the barn siding.... for a barn full of zombies there was nary a shadow of movement inside the barn. Maybe it was zombie nap time. I am totally sick of the soap opera stuff in the show. Who cares about your petty interpersonal relationships? Death waits for you at every turn!

It should have been Carl that came forward and shot Sophia in the head while everyone hesitated. Instead he was cowering in his mommy's arms

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
i think it should of been Shane...
he got everyone all worked up to kill Hershel's family in the barn... and wanted to kill them right away... yet when it was one of their groups members, let alone Sophia... no one wanted to do it... I like to think, everyone realized, what Hershel felt like for that moment.
big questions arise also with this.. Hershel must of known she was in there, as she was kept alive, and he allowed the search to keep going... yet he wanted them to move on from the farm?

Do I enjoy anything? Lots. Do I enjoy The Walking Dead? No, sir, I do not.
Anybody checking out Homeland? Really helping fill the vacuum of well-told and engaging television that the end of the Breaking Bad season brought.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I enjoyed the awesome comic book series the show was based on, after the 2nd episode, I could tell they were going to veer off the driven path, so I've been steering clear.

Yeah, more like The Sleeping Dead!
Ugh, this season has been sooo annoying and boring, and I hate how they wait till the last 5mins to do anything in the show. Or try to make up for an whole episode by doing something shocking at the end (IE: Carl getting shot).
Shoot that damn, annoying "WHERE'S SOFIA?!" plotline in the head! Ok, now lets move on with the story!

Maybe I need to get drunk or high and watch so I can suspend that all important disbelief.

And Otis didn't know Rick and his crew were searching for a little girl since they were busy dealing with the whole Carl got shot ordeal. It was after Carl was in the clear that Hershels family was told they were looking for Sophia. By then Otis was dead. I've read the comics since they were first being published. The show for me has been for the most part a disappointment since the first season. They all need to put a bullet in each others head and end it.

Anybody checking out Homeland? Really helping fill the vacuum of well-told and engaging television that the end of the Breaking Bad season brought. So you're posting here to talk about other shows? Ok. What I mean is that it's a weekly hour-long show about zombie survival. I get AMC with my cable plan. It's on Sunday nights when I'm free to watch it. I'll grant you folks that there are plot inconsistencies and overacting, but I can overlook those things in light of the fact that it is a FREE SHOW ABOUT ZOMBIES (on Sunday!). And it's honestly a pretty damn good series. So I find it sad that the WD thread is filled with complaints about every little nit in the show. Maybe some people find it enjoyable to look for those things. My one disappointment so far with the show is that they don't get into more detail about the cause of the infection, both historically and scientifically. Maybe they'll reveal it through flashbacks or later in the series. The characters are also pretty reckless in bashing the zombies- don't they risk infection if the blood/guts fly in their mouth or eyes? I wonder if the information about Otis finding Sophia will be revealed later on, e.g., at the opening of the season restart. There was definitely an impact at finding her in the barn, but seems odd that they would omit something that significant. Oh yeah, bring back Merle.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I think you may be misunderstanding my complaints.
Im complaining because I like the show, but want it to be the best it can be. If the same network can bring creative writing like they do in Breaking Bad and Mad Men why not for WD.
I still watch, but just can't accept it because it's zombie show on TV( its not free, I pay for cable). Once you appreciate great writing there is no going back. There are moments that show promise so I hang in there in hopes that the switch will happen and it will kick in.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I think the show could use more flashbacks as well. I think a lot of the time the change in behavior of the main characters AMC wants us to believe is forced. It would be easier to believe, and more subtle, if they maybe started each show or every other show with a flashback to the panic of when all of this first went down. Slowly build us into seeing why these people became they way they did. I guess that would be too much like Lost but it would help me get invested in these characters more. I hate to say it but Andrew Lincoln and a few others are not that great of actors to pull off these transitions in behavior. They seem limited in range.

That's a great article. It really pin points all the problems, a lot of which have been talked about in this thread. Hopefully the writing staff reads it.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
great article in the Atlantic. I found the other review less entertaining and a bit annoying.
personally, I think there should be moments like the Sofia reveal in every single episode. but I guess i'm spoiled by GoT, BB, Wired... even SoA.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
The show lost its way in the second season with new production leads. Maybe after fumbling in the dark this season with leftover plotlines they didn't conceive and obviously couldn't invest in, they'll start fresh with a new vision after this mid-season break. Aaaaaaaaand maybe I'll find a Bemon in the free toy bin at the local flea market. :/ Greasebat wrote: thunderhag wrote: I still get a kick out of watching this awful show in a room full of nerds at my local comic shop every week, yelling out derogatory commentary and winning (or giving out) beers for every obvious production value mistake... I'm enjoying it but then I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is. I also have forgotten most of the comics, so I wasn't expecting it to be exactly the same. Sitting around and trying to spot production errors in a TV show is just sad. A camera in a mirror? A fake deer. Seriously? I didn't notice any of that, mostly because I was busy watching a TV show. In the preview for the next episode Hershel explains that Otis put the walkers in the barn, so chimply.kaiju is right on. Still the best zombie themed show on TV!
