 Who, what, when, where, how?!?!?!?!?!?!

Both sets of grody goodness look very promising! I would love to be able to get both the silver and gold (and glow) grodys and the wicked clear grodys with veins! And that mash-up... Yum!

Now, the questions are:

When will they be available for purchase?
Where will they be available for purchase?
And at what time will they be available for purchase?

Aaaah! Luke is a mad man I tell ya, a mad man!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu, mind is blown at how fast this guy is working. I really can't fathom his productivity. I really can't. He must be having the time of his life right now.

One thing I will say though, and I am not at all trying to take away from the work Luke us doing ( seriously, that guy IS a machine!), is that he has shown how, one you have a great mold, and that it is clearly loved by us sofubi fanboys, it is fairly simple to order lots of different vinyl and release many figures regularly, and without too much difficulty (provided the small mom&pop operations in Japan can handle it), unpainted of course. Just throwing it out there to contrast with what some other manufacturer's beliefs are on the matter.

There is quite the spectrum and GS is clearly at one end. I think the spectrum looks like:

Nag---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Grody Shogun

Honestly, I don't like either model and prefer something in the middle. I'm totally burnt out on Grody Shogun, and I've only bought 3 figures! Seeing all of these releases getting churned out doesn't make me like mine any less, but looking at all the new photos does nothing for me anymore. With a slower release schedule I'm sure I'd be drooling over some of these releases, but it's all just become white noise to me.

I think it's apples and oranges. Luke works non-stop, it's NOT easy as far as I know.

Not saying it's easy - just saying it's too much, too quick. That's spelled doom for other toy makers / toy lines.

When I see the releases coming so quickly and people buying these up in a flash, it reminds me of the RXH minis mania a while back. Like NT said, too much too quick, for me anyway.

Oh yea, I was aiming that comment at ultra's a little.

The thing is, is Luke does what he does one way and Shig another and Mori another and Kiyoka another and I don't think it's comparable. Everyone is always quick to point out how "easy" it would be for someone to just make a huge run of unpainted figures and sell them in mass. But Shig would have to sit there and cut all the vinyl, all the excess flash etc. and assemble. Maybe he just isn't interested in doing that? Luke is nuts and it's awesome but how can we say that just because he's into doing it this way that other's SHOULD or could?

That's where I was really going. Apples and oranges. Gargamel and crew do at LEAST 1 HP show a year + SDCC, but people don't go on about how other's should do that. But again, apples and oranges.

I like oranges and apples honestly. Luke is a madman in the best way. I'm glad he's doing things his way.

Post Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
Here's the real issue... You shouldnt care how many are made, and how often they are released. If you like the toys for what they are, how happy they make you, etc... Those other factors shouldnt matter... People get too caught up in how rare shit is, just to enjoy their toys... If you don't like all 60 releases in a year, buy the ones you like... If anything, thos bandwagonwers who bought 5 of each figure, will be selling them later, cheaper ::cough:: Cronic, RxH ::cough::

real fans of RxH still flock to get a new fig...

Its all about your love for a figure, and the creators love... Obviously luke is nuts, and loves his toys, and I don't blame him.. He unlocked the fucking code... Popular sculpts + good pricing = win win for everyone...

Just enjoy them, and don't worry so much about run size

Post Re: Grody Shogun - New Stuff
Hey D, I think Steve was speaking about production numbers in a sense of "I wish other toy producers would make more of their toys so I could get them" mentality, rather than "how rare is it?"

And also to point out what something else he said, "Just throwing it out there to contrast with what some other manufacturer's beliefs are on the matter." I think he was just trying to show another way that someone does their deal, and not trying to say one is better than the other. Like BD's been saying, apples and oranges.

I wasn't really replying to anyone... More so just giving my take on collecting, and run sizes, and people only buying the latest and greatest just to have it... Then complain later when too many were made, and it made the toys not worth as much... Etc...

Does anyone have a problem with getting Luke's pieces to stand? I picked up a couple of his little guys at D-Con and would love to display them but the little dudes just keep falling over.

if it's the hawaii yk's (the ones shown in that post), then the only sure fire cure is to send them
directly to me for retooling. i can't make any guarantees they'll make it back, though... :D

someone's mentioned a base material, much like a kneadable eraser, that can help... but i don't
remember the name, or what thread it was brought up in.

I've also used this stuff in the past as well, has a pretty strong hold and lasts for quite awhile. Also on Amazon (although, slightly pricier than the option above):

you could heat it with a hairdryer position him, and then switch the hairdryer to cool, and while holding the figure in place standing, cool it down. this should work... ive did it with kaws 5yl's, as well as cococrocs, etc... and it works.
