Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
yeah, i guess so. complaining about Walking Dead is like complaining about McDonald's. There are so many better options out there, but yet I still continue to eat there (Happy Meals for the kids primarily)

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
The biggest production error I've noticed is when Glen and Maggie are getting supplies right before she gets attacked. The camera is on Glen, and outside the store is this old lady just standing there. Pretty funny. But I actually happened to enjoy the latest episode, it finally had some action going on. I'm hoping the 2nd half of the season keeps the storyline moving forward, cause it definitely had been crawling for a while.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
The wife and I just watched the mid-season finale. I am not impressed. As usual, there was a lot of drama and not enough resolution. At least we got to see some zombies get shot!
Why didn't someone shoot Shane when he was trying to open the barn? It would have been a great time for Dale to grow some balls.

I was thinking the same thing while watching the episode. If someone was about to unleash a tidal wave o zombie, while simultaneously jeopardizing my chance to stay in a safe haven, I'd shoot the bastard. At least in the leg...

Not only that, but it was great how Lori simply told Carl to stand behind her. Good call on that one super mom. Why wouldn't she pick him up and start running towards the house?

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Yeah a dozen or so walkers slowly plodding out of a barn with one exit vs Shane's new super trained death squad packed with enough heat to stop a small 3rd world army...
Humans 15 Walkers 0. Threat factor- non existent (unless they run out of magic bullets)

Not particularly impressed with the whole Otis knew but no one else knew explanation. If you find an unidentified child zombie, you're probably going to tell someone about it before you get shot in cold blood by your comrade.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I felt like the last few episodes were a little better. Then I realized that they weren't, I'd just stopped being critical of the flaws and decided to accept the show for what it is. Managed to notice that there's some pretty good photography.
A proposal for a Walking Dead Drinking Game: Every time Shane pronounces "come on" as "c'moh," drink! By the end of the episode, you'll be walking like a walker.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Dean I saw the preview for episode 8 'Nebraska' and he says that (in regards to Rick being as delusional as Hershel). I think I might take you up on this drinking challenge in February! Wonder why this episode 8 is called Nebraska? Homage to the episode of the same name in this season's Dexter? I also gave up being critical and just hope for more action As long as Shane is going ballistic I guess that sort of is accomplished. Kill him off I might depart permanently.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Despite Jon Bernthal's penchant for over-indicating every little thing, Shane is probably the most compelling character. Thanks for the heads-up, I'll go check out the preview. No clue what "Nebraska" signifies. Maybe Bruce Springsteen turns up as a walker?

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Now if Season 2 of Walking Dead had Darabont still and started out like this: http://whatculture.com/tv/frank-darabon ... opener.phpWe might have had a better Season 2 already. This sounds like just about everything I would have wanted to see in the beginning of Season 2. I hope this show picks up but I fear losing Frank pretty much sealed it's fate.

Great read, and I fully agree this would have been amazing.
Why must all great concepts be discarded to satisfy the likes of the few....

Season 2 is moving ahead just fine.

By the way, Rich, since you seem to be a fan too, how about a walking dead Ollie? I know I'd kill for one. Just no Kozik blood splatter, if you consider the idea. . .

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
More on the cancelled idea and how people are unhappy on the Walking Dead set from the actor Sam Witwer: http://thewalkingdeadpodcast.com/2012/0 ... ts-firing/Honestly everyone has an opinion on how WD Season 2 has played out. I can respect that. Personally I agree with this actor, because I am a fan of Frank Darabont and I really don't dig the story lines in Season 2 thus far. I KNOW I'm not alone on that either. I mean this show had so much promise to be a really great show and now seems mired in budget cuts, over-supervision from AMC, long slow boring story lines, and soap opera drama.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Season 2 still holds the feel of the comic series, although there are obvious modifications/omissions/additions. If you have not read the series, I urge you to. I think many are becoming too critical just because you want some more "action", rather than an exploration of the characters and the human drama of survival in a zombie world.

As I've stated many times in the past I've read the entire comic series long before the show came out.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Good. Are you still reading it? Because it does move slowly for a monthly book, and it deals with very personal issues. As for Season 2, when Robert Kirkman starts actively complaining, that is when you should worry. When I last spoke to him, he did not seem too concerned. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/walking-dead-robert-kirkman-graphic-novel-bestseller-275974Let's see how it goes when the season continues. . .

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I read the hardcovers volume 1 through 7. I get that it's more about the survival than end to end zombie action.
That said it definitely seems like there is someone being killed every 10 pages or so. I also get that television is an entirely different medium than an illustrated novel but it seemed that Frank wrote the show FOR television and had a bunch of great ideas that will never be realized now. Seemed Kirkman was onboard with Frank from early interviews into Season 1, and while I'm not suggesting those two had any falling out, AMC cutting the budget and pissing off the one guy who adapted the comic into a great show seems, well, short sighted on their part.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on Season 2, and if the show has been great for you, I'm happy. I wish I could say the same for myself. To me it has it's moments but overall could have shortened several plot lines, and not pigeon holed several characters with knee jerk lines etc.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Did season two ever get any better or at least even? I just couldn't invest the time in it after season one was so uneven and every so often got my hopes up to crush them. I loved the comic and don't mind a slow moving interesting series. However, the acting just got worse and worse, in the few eps I saw of season two it was so forced and stilted, and the melodrama was just that. It lacked the feel and emotion of the books, but then there weren't any horrible actors in the book, with really horrible dialogue.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
It is always easier when the acting is in your head, as when you are readying a graphic novel. I actually like Season 2, so far, better than the 2nd 1/2 of Season 1. And, since Season 3 is already approved, it looks like we will have lots to discuss for the next year +.
