Is the guy with the sword, and blue helm, and chain mail, some sort of Frank Franzetta tribute figure? I've never seen that anywhere... I'm guessing it could be a D&D figure, but I'm probably wrong. It just really looks like everything Frank had ever done...

I remember checking these Body Wars toys out in the store back in the day. They are pretty cool, but don't work really as playsets so much (unlike Mighty Max or Micro Machines). The "organs" are more like sweet containers for the dudes. If you like these kind of things though, definitely check out the Trendmasters Godzilla ones, or, my personal favourite, the Conan sets (see the discussion in the other thread for links).

Okay so I know very little about this bugger, I need to know more. I got him when I was a kid from a small toy shop in a mall in my home town, I had two guys this one and a shark dude the later is gone. I'm not sure which shield belongs to him but I know the axe is his.
My theory is that it is a bootleg of the MOTU KO line from Remco, but actual info would be awesome if there are any he-man fans on the board who could help.

Never mind, Found the line. It was Galaxy Heroes which is a boot of the Galaxy warriors line.
One of the others in package:

haha! as much as i have a place in my heart for all motu ko lines, the non-moving legs on these annoys me. i mean, the fact that they knocked off a knock off is awesome, but its one line i don't get into much. the only galaxy heroes i care to own is horned devil & satyr. those are the only 2 that i know of that are galaxy heroes originals, and not a cheap molding of a pre-existing galaxy warrior. i am curious to see the shark guy you mentioned though...
also, here is a pic of my fav galaxy heroes fig, the award-winning-originally-named "horned devil"

Post Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
i just now noticed the adventure time posts.
i see you all are interested in it.
i am too.
but
i have learned that these are produced by jazwares.
so it is basically going to be a highly breakable piece of junk disguised as an adventure time character.
beware, jazwares products should not be classified as toys.

Yeah from the looks of it their typical QC is involved, the paint is horrid and they really botched a toy line that had huge potential.

Post Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
i figured it time to share some more info of forgotten motu-ko gems.
here is sun-man & his sun people....& the one villain, pig-face.
Image
these were created by a small company named Olmec Corporation.
i found the story of Olmec Toys to be pretty interesting.
the bits of info i've been able to find on the web is that Olmec, first launching with Sun-Man in 1985 was the result of a woman named Yla Eason being frustrated at the fact that she could not find any super-heroes of color for her son Menelik to play with.

Yla Eason decided to leave her well-established position in the corporate world, and start one of the few minority-owned toy companies in the United States.

Being that Masters of the Universe were the major toy magnet of the time, and the vast cast of human characters were caucasian, sun-man was the first expidition. Olmec also had a G.I. Joe knockoff titled The Bronze Bombers, and Butterfly Woman as an alternative to She-Ra.

Competing against Mattel right off the bat, tying your new company immediately in a legal war over likeness rights probably wasn't the very best decision for an upcoming toy company, in my opinion.

These toys are very hard to come by. Though Sun-Man & Pig-Face are the ones that pop up the most, they are still very seldom on the market, and tend to fetch very high prices. The others in the line are pretty much next to impossible to obtain. If you are patient and have deep pockets, you might get most of them in a handful of years. According to many action figure collectors who have followed the line/studied up on it, Duplico, Hypno, Kikto and Zap-Man, have never surfaced to the them, and many believe these figures have actually never made it to production.
I've had a few times in the past seen these pop up on ebay. I was shocked to see a moc Holographo sell a few weeks ago on ebay for a whopping $355! and here i thought i was clever attempting to throw in a $250 with 10 seconds left  . the only other time i've seen any surface was a digitino, beat to hell, and having no accessories. i put my bid in, and with 5 days left, the seller pulled the auction. i'm assuming they were offered a large amount, and did the whole under-the-table dealing (which is very pathetic, unfair, and happens frequently in the action figure world).

the picture above is from the cardback i have on my pig-face, which is the full line up of ones reported to have been witnessed to be in existence, while this other cardback:
http://www.dollsofcolor.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/olmec_sun-man_team.jpg
appears to be the full "imagined" line-up, pre-production plans and all...

The figures were released on a variety of cardbacks. I recently scored a Pig_man moc, which i will be posting a pic of along with my recent toy haul in the mail section, which rocked a pretty plain orange/yellow cardback. while sun-man has a card that i seem to think is similar to The New Adventures of He-Man line, all black starry night covered with a drawn artwork picture of sun-man flying in space and the Sun-Man logo across the top center (my sun-man was moc, but the bubble/blister was super yellowed and cracking all over the place, so i opened it up. i have the card and can scan it in if anyone is interested in seeing it, or i am sure you could google it). likewise, sun-man himself has been known to have been released with multiple head variations. 1 of them being the one shown in that group pick above, the one i have is the flat-top version (which, i honestly think is the same head used on kikto), and reports of 2 more heads i have not seen yet.

i have heard on a few occassions a (probably far fetched) rumor that, when attacking Olmec over likeness rights to their Masters of the Universe line, Mattel had obtained some rights to the Olmec characters. With that, the rumor running is that they are working on a Sun-Man vs. Pig-Man set for the MOTUC collection. Though i HIGHLY doubt that, i still won't give up my dreams of hoping it happens!

Post Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
i totally forgot to add the "backstory," as it is printed on the package:
The legend of Sun-Man Continues...

His magical melanin skin gave him unequalled, unlimited and special super strength. Sun-Man's skin could not be cut, burned, bruised, broken, pierced, stabbed, ripped or removed.

So Pig-Head the evil wart, was plotting to smoke-out Sun-Man. He wanted to see if he could weaken Sun-Man's powerful skin through the smoke from the drugs Pig-Head had just cooked up.

But Sun-Man flies free, protecting the right for the Galaxy-Trefixa to exist in peace. His rap is clear:

"Pig-Head listen, you're bad luck. You won't win, so just give up. Sun-Man is on the scene to stay. My good powers shall rule all the way!

The battle has just Begun...

i'm not so sure Eason designed these as much as wanted a toyline with characters of ethnic diversity. so lets not jump the gun yet! lets just go with "label pending" on that one.

Crazy write-up, man! Had no idea these things existed.

Shit...Sun-Man should really hit that smoke from the drugs Pig-Man cooked up...they sure work wonders on my magical melanin skin! ;)

Wow, my mind was just blown by a reference I read on the Weird Oh toys blog (all images courtesy of them). There is a new company starting to make bootlegs of bootlegs - to be more specific, new versions of classic MOTU KO figures. Here is a shot of the prototype figure, and you can check out their FB group here for more info. Definitely something to check back in on.

The guy I spoke with about making these actually mentioned knocking off Sun Man too... and all of his various head versions. I'm not into Sun Man, so I didn't even know he had various heads. Pig Head is the one I'm interested in.
