 Attack the block
Great low key movie !
Im always amazed how movies like this go without notice.
If you haven't seen it, it's at the redbox now for a buck. But totally worth the full price if you decide to buy.

 Re: Attack the block
Definitely cool gif. This was a nice little movie, something to just enjoy. If I am being really critical there are a few things I would talk issue with - but anything is vastly outbalance by the use of real monsters instead of CGI crap. I guess a bunch of dudes running around in gorilla suits is all it takes to make me happy.

 Re: Attack the block
Totally an underrated movie of the year. It reminded me of Gremlins and Super8, in a London-grime setting. LOVE the effects for the monsters and how they were part CG and part authentic. Really looked like some realistic beast with a sci-fi upgrade. And that black fur, so black, pitch black. Great action too! Highly recommend it!

 Re: Attack the block
great alien movie... its whole world was really self-contained and funny. watched it around the same time as super 8 and it blew that forgettable trash out of the water

 Re: Attack the block
This is from a New York Times roundup of 2011's movies:
The Kid-Driven Blockbuster You Should Have Seen Instead Of ‘Super 8’ By GABY DUNN
This summer, two movies told the tales of precocious children defending their corners of the Earth from alien invasion. One you probably heard about — “Super 8,” directed by the Spielberg-approved auteur J. J. Abrams — and one you maybe didn’t: “Attack the Block,” a movie produced by Edgar Wright (“Shaun of the Dead”) about a group of teenage hoodlums and a female nursing student, all living in a British housing project, who come together to repel an alien blitz from outer space. Whereas “Super 8” relied on bombastic special effects and incipient dawn-of-the-’80s nostalgia to tell an overly familiar story (suburban kids forced to grow up fast after an amazing encounter), “Attack the Block,” on a fraction of the budget, delivered a sharp and poignant message on race relations, the spiral of urban violence and the understanding that can blossom when we’re forced to forget our divisions and band together, simply, as humans. “Super 8” wanted badly to be “E.T.” crossed with “Cloverfield.” Instead, it should hope to be “Attack the Block” when it grows up.

 Re: Attack the block
I enjoyed Attack the Block, but didn't think it was as good as Super 8.

 Re: Attack the block
Interestingly enough I met the editor when I delivered a King Ken to him in the UK. He mentioned he was a film editor, and I asked him if I heard of teh movies and he mentioned this one and Scott Pilgrim. Mind blown instantly!

 Re: Attack the block
I just watched Attack the Block. I thought it was pretty good. I don't even have to see Super 8 to know it's a bloated over budgeted Spielberg past his expiration date type thing. Favorite line from the Block:
"This is too much madness to explain in one text!"

 Re: Attack the block
Just finished watching this movie and loved it. Those aliens were very cool. I am not a fan of cg aliens at all and it is always refreshing to see monsters done in the flesh instead of the pixel. Love those glowing teeth!!!
