I love the 'score' on this and can not WAIT for this movie.
I hope they show more of the 'space' jockey,.

I hope they show more of the 'space' jockey,. You can see the Space Jockey head being slid forward in the trailer. From everything I have read its pointing that it will be a good part of the plot. It could have nothing to do with the movie, but Im hoping that it does. It would make a logical prequel.

There's also a shot of the space jockey recliner/gun/cockpit thing, with some weird bald dude standing on the right side of the screen.

Ridley Scott wrote: Yeah, so there you have that. I was always amazed that, I mean, I've only done two science-fictions, but I was always amazed that no one asked who the hell the Space Jockey was. He wasn't even called the Space Jockey. During the film they started to call it the Space Jockey. I don't know who started that one off. I always thought it was amazing that no one ever asked who he was, and why was he there? What was all that about? I sat thinking about this for a while and thought, well, there's a story! And the other four [films] missed it! So, here it is. Read more: Ridley Scott Talks Prometheus, Giger and the Space Jockey - ComingSoon.net http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienew ... z1hPnCNUQn

 Re: Prometheus trailer
Great little read, and maybe it's just me but I'm really happy there is no xenomorphs in this. Always great to hear when a creator knows that enough is enough and to move on.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
If Ridley Scott were George Lucas, he would be bullshitting about how he had all this planned out thirty years ago when he made the first film.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
I am SO excited for this movie. The trailer looks amazing! I was not even aware of it until a couple weeks ago, the title threw me off and I had no idea this was an Alien prequel... (well, they say it isn't, then I've read that it is, ect...?? Is it or isn't it??) I was a little let down by The Dark Knight Rises trailer and I am now even more excited for this.

Definitely going in the right direction. I have a few doubts about the cast but 2012 is going to be a great year for movies. I think I only saw 4 last year.

Oh, you mean he was awesome in Alien? Huh, I never woulda guessed. Noomi Rapace was incredible in the Sweedish "Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" movies. I think I read that she turns out to be the heroine in this film. She does kicking ass in fucked up circumstances quite convincingly.

Is that the premise? Kim has a ton of movie gift certificates BUT unfortunately there are absolutely no movies I want to see out. It's all shit now. Looking forward to this and the new Wes Anderson film this summer.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
The whole prequel thing is a sticking point for a lot of nerd rage. It isn't. It takes place in the alien universe. But then it really is. But then the link between the two is this lame tedious kind of possible spoiler. Etc.

So excited! The wife and I are going to take a day off once this comes out. We'll bring the kiddo to daycare, get some breakfast and then hit up an early matinee.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
OK so who's seeing this today?
It's apparently received a lot of bad reviews, mainly for too many things going on , i.e. which plot does it want to follow. I want to see for myself.
I have two choices: go by myself today, see at the local imax (or non imax) or wait till tonight and see it with my g/f in non imax format. My girl is definitely not as into seeing it as me and certainly thinks imax would be a complete waste. I don't ever get to imax showings much, debating....

 Re: Prometheus trailer
Wouldn't bother with IMAX as it wasn't filmed for it. Regular 3D is fine.
I've seen it...and they're fair comments. Is it a 'bad' film? No far from it, there are some great moments, some beautiful cinematography and some strong performances.
However, some of the other cast choices are questionable, it's all a bit muddled with various plot strands - it's asking a lot of questions and doesn't really answer many of them. There are too many characters - you don't really get enough time with all of them so they feel like bit parts.
But I still enjoyed it.

 Re: Prometheus trailer
I'll be watching this on Saturday. I'm not a big fan of 3D, I would even go out of the way to see a non-3D showing of a movie, but in the case of Prometheus I think I would make an exception because the entire movie was shot using 3D cameras. So if there was a good way to do a 3D movie, this one might be it. Now I just have to remember to wear my contacts instead of my glasses to the 3D showing...

 Re: Prometheus trailer
Well no IMAX then, it is settled if it wasn't filmed for IMAX. As far as the 3D thing goes- I'm not a fan as I think it's more a gimmick than anything. Unfortunately I think they only have 3D showings available. Buffalo sucks for films. I had to call a local independent theater and ask when they were getting Moonrise Kingdom in, the answer: maybe June 29th? WTF?!!! Ok almost a full month after it comes out nationally. Fucking pathetic this town is.
