 Re: Black Metal
I've really been into Sutekh hexen. I couldn't bring myself to shell out for that expensive 3X7" set of the tape releases. I hope they get an LP release someday. I don't think there was even 30min of music on them all total.

It's a damn good album. Very creative BM. Christof Niederwieser (the man/band dude) runs a cool website too http://avantgarde-metal.com/content/news.php

The lyrics get pretty silly sometimes, I feel like Satan would be ashamed of this, but that's part of the charm. Also my favorite album cover in forever. I agree with all of this. I haven't heard enough to get to the point where the music compensates for the singing. But the album cover is terrific! I stop thinking of them as "metal" when I listen and it helps shake it. Again, corny vocals kind of but the charm has kicked in for me. It has more of a "goth" vibe going on vocally, maybe that's what it is? So regarding Ghost, I've changed my mind. A buddy wants to go see 'em in about a week, so I figured I'd give it another chance - and now I can dig it. Just gotta shift your expectations and enjoy it for what it is. Really looking forward to seeing them play.

That Hunter guy is clearly full of himself (odd for a front man, I know) and his message about transcendental black metal, but their music is pretty noteworthy and original in ways. They're one of the better American post-bm bands, just don't pay attention to the drama / hype and philosophical bullshit, the music should speak for itself. I will say that reading the back and forth articles between him and a guy from Woe was pretty funny, though. Their other releases are worth checking out as well.

That was such an awesome show. Only dissapointment was their short set.

 Re: Black Metal
I was in NYC when Ghost played at the Bowery Ballroom.
I couldn't go to the show but some that did complained that Ghost played pre-recorded music during some of their songs?
What's up with that for those of you that saw them at other venues?

Hey Nat Sorry I didnt get to say "hey", beyond the head nod from the distance. Definitely awesome, but short. Though I expected that as their album is pretty short and it sounds like they don't have any other material other than the cover of "Here Comes the Sun". Also, I thought the sound mix could have been a bit better - it wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't as "clean" sounding as some shows that I've seen there. Chad - I didn't notice any pre-recorded music. Perhaps the person you heard from just wasn't able to see the keyboardist through all the smoke?

 Re: Black Metal
Can't stop listening to Darkthrone and the commentary on the 2 cd sets are awesome. It takes a little time for my ears to adjust to the accents though. Nocturno's is very heavy.
