Lewd Acts was amazing. My friends played with them in tiny little basement. Also saw my friends with Total Fury. They destroyed that little basement!

Nagisa Ni Te in Stirling, Scotland in 2007. I wonder if I'll ever get to see them, love their records. Same goes for Ai Aso and Kazuki Tomokawa.
I've seen quite a lot of excellent stuff across the years but these have been on top of my list for quite a long while.

Two of the best bands I've seen were Primus and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. I saw both multiple times, but I think the best Primus show I saw was the Pork Soda tour, and the best JSBX was the Acme tour. The musicianship was super tight, and they had great crowd banter/interaction.

Big Daddy Meat Straw's last ever re-union show at Satyricon a month before it was torn down was a hoot too. The audience was almost as interesting as the band!

also Aaron how did you not see Bury your dead or Martyr AD i must have seen both of those bands like 2 or 3 times i feel like they used to tour like crazy but then again you saw unbroken and i would gladly trade both those bands for half an unbroken song live... Life. Love. Regret.

Blood Brothers were pretty great live. Them with Orchid was one of the best shows I've seen that I forgot about.
I don't know how I've missed BYD for so long. I don't think they played my locale very often.
Martyr AD seemed like they only played big shows. Despite knowing all of them and being from my hometown, I was off HC for awhile and just never caught them. Now I regret it. I saw two Disembodied reunion shows though and that's even better.

Post Re: Bands You Wish You had Gotten To See
The music scene here in Manila has been generally pathetic. And I mean, today, if we want to watch a good act, we had to fly out to Hong Kong, Singapore, or even as far as the US...

The Ventures, Frank Sinatra, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Neil Young, Clapton, Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson are some of the more notable artists that we had. That's it, as far as I can remember. The Beatles came but it was surrounded by a controversy where they were allegedly "mugged", I wasn't born yet to confirm the accounts of people and the infos.

I wish I had the chance to experience....

The Doors
The Beatles
The Clash
Led Zeppelin
The Who
The Jam
Jimi Hendrix
Nirvana
Stray Cats
Sex Pistols
Velvet Underground
The Specials
Madness
The Beat
The Smiths
Joy Division
Traveling Wilburys
Lee "Scratch" Perry
Rolling Stones
Paul Weller
David Bowie

Somehow, I had the chance to experience....

Frank Sinatra
Pearl Jam
Mudhoney
China Crisis
Lotus Eaters
The Police (In LA during their reunion gig a few years ago)
Sting
Gene Loves Jezebel
Metallica
Frente

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think he tours outside of Japan. I recently checked Tokyo Gig Guide and he was playing. I'd love to see him sooner or later, the videos on youtube are pretty amazing.

These are the four best gigs I've seen so far:

Lightning Bolt (Cox18, Milan - probably 2002?)
Masayoshi Urabe (Instal Festival, Glasgow - 2004)
Loren Mazzacane Connors and Alan Licht (Instal Festival, Glasgow - 2005)
Corrupted (Luff Festival, Lausanne - 2008)

Edit: Just remembered Maher Shalal Hash Baz / Hair Stylistics @ Shinjuku Jam in Tokyo, summer of 2009. First time I got to see Tori Kudo with a large ensemble (if I remember well with at least other nine or ten musicians) and loved it! Sounded like a slowed down funeral brass band. Same night Hair Stylistics made my ears bleed, with a naked kabuki actor shaggin the amps! Awesome night!
AND Yure Yure Teikoku at The Liquid Room in Tokyo. This thread is making me bring back all the good times spent at gigs. Sad I haven't been to a decent one in a while.

Post Re: Bands You Wish You had Gotten To See
I know I am going to be the odd man out in this thread, but this brings to mind a conversation I am often having about choosing one band/musician (living or dead) you would want to see in a small or intimate venue. For me the choice has always been Johnny Cash. I know musically he is not everybody's thing, and that's just fine. The dude knew how to bring it and tell a story. Keep on rockin' the black Johnny.

others I would have loved to see in their heyday:
- The Band
- The Guess Who
- Neil Young
- James Brown
- Five Man Electrical Band
- Eric Burdon (with whomever)
- Parliament
- Hendrix

Blood Brothers was bananas, one of my favorite shows, lucky to have seen them with Plot to Blow up The Eiffel Tower, way better live than on Album.

I have been lucky enough to see most of the bands I wanted to see...maybe not in their prime, but I saw them...

Two I didn't that haunt me:

Beefheart.

Karp.

(and...Kate Bush...she only did one tour, in 1979...then never played a concert again. Not a band, so she's just a guilty wish.)
