Maybe it's not the crowd, but Whitney Houstan died today...
According to the LA times she was acting erratically "doing handstands by a pool", and skipping around the Beverly Hilton. She showed up to give Monica, and Brandy tips for their performances Clive Davis's pre-Grammy Gala and her hair was drenched with either sweat or water. Paramedics were called to the Beverly for an emergency and found her dead... You can read the rest of the article here. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_b ... avior.htmlMight I add that even though I don't personally listen to that music, she had an amazing voice, and it's always sad to see someone lose their life to drugs... RIP.

Can't believe I was 9 at the time & still remember being blown away when she sang the national anthem at the superbowl.

I'm already angry at my 'friends' on Facebook/other social media who are racing to post the cleverest, meanest thing they can post after the death of someone who's lived a tragic life, like it's some sort of accomplishment to be insensitive. Was never a big fan of hers, but I'm sad to see that she's passed.

Wasn't a fan but I can recognize she had one amazing voice. Sad to see someone with such talent waste her life away like that. Bobby Brown is such a fucking douchebag, he pretty much ruined her.

I didn't really follow her career, but I'm pretty sure I heard she was really "bad" prior to meeting him. She just had a clean image. I could be wrong though. I think she said this on Oprah or something.

OK same here- never followed her career, maybe her squeeky clean image prior to him is media make believe. I still stand by my assessment of Bobby Brown being a huge douchebag though.

if its any consolation, at least she died in a beverly hills hotel bathtub and not face down in an alley or something.

Just another example that drugs are bad. I've heard lots of people blame bobby, but had heard similarly she was never the good girl but that was the image sold.

Couldn't you blame fame as much as drugs? Fame seems to destroy many people. Fame is a gateway drug.
No matter how we pass I think it's sad only for those directly connected who feel a loss in their personal lives. Otherwise death is inevitable and what is just a part of existance, a passing, I wish had better terminology in our given language then 'sad' because that adds to the bias of fear. I tend to call the funerals I go to 'going away parties', seems a nicer way to look at it.

Ok, weakness? I find it odd when people are so forgiving of the rich and famous because of the "pressures" they feel. Try dealing with people that haven't ever had any chance given to them or any money to waste or spend, and then feel sympathy for the pressures of the extremely well off. But i don't understand peoples obsession with mourning celebrity death. I have lost friends and loved ones, and those friends where too drugs and alcohol and i felt bad but even that said we cant let the finish line of a person let us forget the race they ran... always sad for someone to die yes but Whitney Houston had spiraled in her later years in to a proud trashy mess its not really shocking shes gone... SaintOfSpinners wrote: Couldn't you blame fame as much as drugs? Fame seems to destroy many people. Sad she passed sad her legacy is ending with her dead and in a hotel room, great soul and RB singer dies a rock n roll stereotype

Re: Maybe it's not the crowd, but Whitney Houstan died today...
I dont mean to sound sypathetic towards fame and power or unsympathetic towards death in general I just think we should look at other matters at times. Some people can't handle fame as many people can't handle poverty. Most seek a middle ground in life with less pressure from either side.
And "waiting" I didn't mean to offend you. Try reading my lines better. I am talking about how our language predicts our reactions towards lifes inevitabilities. For those I have lost I never think of their deaths but rather the great times we had shared. Never a tear but always a smile. I have enough current things to be sad about.
Like this: Whitney passed yesterday. What a great voice. I am really happy to have had the pleasure to hear it and be moved by her so many times. Hope wherever she goes she is happy.

Re: Maybe it's not the crowd, but Whitney Houstan died today...
in no way am i lashing out toward you saint i was merely saying that its a shame that in 90% of the cases of everyday life when someone we know that isn't famous succumbs to drugs and alcohol we call them a fuck up and I FART A LOT about how they need to get there shit together here is a woman who was famous rich and could easily have done anything and everything to try and clean her ass up and failed and no one is calling her a fuck up anymore simply because she died from it... and the only rational i can come up with for that being fair is that she paid the ultimate price for her mistakes... that I'm sorry for

Re: Maybe it's not the crowd, but Whitney Houstan died today...
on the subject of drug use in the rich the one thing I've never understood is why these people rarely hire "moral" bodyguards, if you can pay for 24 hour security to keep the stalkers away why not pay someone to follow you 24/7 and slap the glass dick out off your mouth when need be, now this is under the assumption the person wants to get/stay clean... just my 2 cents spend 'em how you want to
