It's pretty rare but most of the unpainted are more rare. Personally I consider it a regular release because there was a run of them in the lucky bags.

aghh very cool. I love this checklist. Its definitly possible to obtain them all.

It's definitely possibly to obtain all the painted versions. A few of the unpainted are ridiculous. Also, the Flynn set is pretty hard to track down.

Yeah I just missed them when they went online. They are super low number like 10 or something right?

For the purposes of this checklist, what does "public release" mean? Several of the unpainted Mummy Boys are notated as "public release" and I never saw or heard of them available for purchase anywhere. Were they released through the SSSS? On the other hand, the PGID unpainted is notated as "not publicly released", but I got mine out of a 2010 lucky bag. Just wondering.

Public release means they were available in a decent quantity to the regular public. On a lot of the older releases, the unpainted versions were also available to both the SSSS or if you just emailed S7. Since then S7 has taken a firm stance on unpainted versions of toys, hence why you hardly see S7 making them available anymore, unless the release itself is unpainted. Even the SSSS doesn't see very many unpainted versions of releases. I will note the 2010 LBs for the PGID because I didn't know any of them were in there. I think yours is possibly the only one that showed up in those LBs?

Should this thread be under Super7 Showroom? I put the Visighost and Dokuwashi checklists there...

Of course, if the long-discussed database forum was launched, it might solve the problem. *cough cough*

Petit - be careful what you wish for!

Hank - a few notes:

The early unpainteds were in larger quantities than later versions as you noted, but they really weren't that many. Most of them ended up in LBs or customs for me, which is why they were made in larger numbers. As it started to get out, collectors felt they needed the unpainted and painted to be complete, so we scaled back the unpainteds to just a few for LBs so that they were a special item, and something unique, not something you can really actively collect (or feel like you have to have to be complete). I would still label them as limited/LB items, you just happened to know someone on the inside!

As the name implies, the Thrashout versions were almost exclusively sold at Thrashout in Tokyo. A few were saved for SSSS orders, but most were overseas.

The clear purple camo is the "Metallic Mist" release.

The Silver Camo Mummy Boy is a spray pattern designed by Naoya of Gargamel.

The Maroon MB/MG sets were released on June 20, 2011 for my 40th birthday.

The PGID is opaque pink glow, and is a custom vinyl color invented by us. (much like the silver lame is a color invented by gargamel.)

SDCC 2011 blue glow is actually a opaque blue glow vinyl, and is the same process as PGID, so it could be called BGID. (it is not clear blue with a pour.)

The "friends release" is a darker clear blue than the HOTW, and was supposed to just a few test shots essentially, but came back as more tests than expected, so we packaged them up together and gave them out.

There are a few missing, like the glow with pink that just came out. I will see what else might be missing. EG93 I am sure has a few insights there as well!

As much as it will pain you, there are a few other test shots out there in varying colors, and as a collector nerd, I keep x1 unpainted of everything (except the maroon I think), but those can't really be considered an active part of the checklist, as you can't really get them if I have the only 1. I will get a picture of them for you.

Wow, that's really sad news about the unpainteds since unpainted toys are my passion.... my chances of ever "knowing someone on the inside" are pretty slim and I can't ever walk into the S7 stores either unless one opens here. Australia sucks for toys.

^^^That would be awesome, you could sticky it!

Thanks for your help and insight Brian. I have updated the thread to reflect the information you gave us. I know we are missing pictures for the following MBs:

Opaque yellow Tokyo unpainted
Clear with glitter unpainted S7 LB 2011 (not totally sure these exist)

As far as those test shots, it drives me nuts but that's okay. As long as one day I find one in my stocking I'll be happy!

For everyone, I have added 2 new images. The GID with pink spray and the NYE unpainted version. Check list is almost complete!

that was some awesome insight Brian, thanks for sharing!

Every time I look at this list i find myself drooling. Trying not to buy more MBs though until I find enough room to display the ones I do have

Super7 section ( Dokuwashi & Visighost lists are there.)

@Hank Thanks for putting this list together.

The Original painted & unpainted GID Mummy boys were released in the 2008 Lucky Bags.
The Halloween 2008 mummy boy was a Moshi Moshi exclusive.
Also the unpainted clear, there was 1 in the 2010 Lucky Bag.

At least two unpainted Mummy Boys that are not on the checklist have been pulled from the recent Lucky Bags. Unpainted BGID and unpainted clear yellow. Check this thread: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=43126
Possibly more to come?
