What If... you had unlimited space for your collection...
what would you collect that you already don't and what would you wish to expand?
as far as stuff I have zilch of that I would collect given the space I would go with old playthings, but the simple folk art type stuff, wooden horses, kids furnature, old tin toys, handmade dolls and marbles etc.
as far as what I would expand it would be masks, I have a handfull of luchadore and dime store halloween masks that just kinda sit in the closet do to lack of display space

Re: What If... you had unlimited space for your collection...
would go after more posters/artwork my favorite games and anime would expand my collection of Evangelion figures if I had the room to have them in cool poses. gotta be unlimited, and un-dusty space too though. would unpack the hundreds of Transformers I have in storage and probably end up wanting to get back into that mode now that I have the space for nice display. haven't bought a Transformer in a LONG time with unlimited space I could also be less discriminate in what Rammstein and MLP apparel I bought because I could have stuff I didn't want to wear hanging up on walls. like a week ago I was going crazy because there's this set of 7 "nouveau"-style shirts for the main FiM cast + a fan favorite, seen here: but they all come in multiple colors, and I at first wanted to get them all in cream (even though I'm not really into cream as a color I just wanted them all the same), but ONE of them doesn't come in cream. so I thought I would get one of each each in a different color but I absolutely couldn't decide on which colors for which because different details get picked out differently depending on the shirt color. so I'm left wanting to just buy every single shirt, 20 shirts total, but that's a lot of money and I don't have a nice way to display them all if I did that. so for now I've got none

it's funny you say that, I was thinking unlimited within the scope of a usual dwelling but yeah you could take it in a I have a 10 acre backyard so I collect amusement park rides like michael jackson kind of way
if were gonna get crazy I wouldn't mind a few of those 30 foot tall cowboys you see outside old RV dealers and kitchy road trip attractions

I'd love to have my own in home art gallery type space, with a center glass console filled with toys. I was considering doing it via one of those cheap add-on sun rooms type deals. Maybe in a few years after I get my house together and if I win a lottery or something.

Re: What If... you had unlimited space for your collection...
I have pretty much unlimited space right now for storing vinyl, and I don't see that as the problem. the real issue is the dollar v. yen, or me not having an unlimited toy fund. However if I did, I've always thought it would be cool to run a library of toys, that could be checked out for a nominal fee. Sort of the way some businesses have done with designer purses.
That way you could check out toys before you decided to dive in and buy them. I would totally be down to rent a nag for a month for 50 dollars, to see if I liked it. That way more people would get a chance to play with something they might never see in person otherwise.
It's funny because when the NZombie first appeared Greg said that when I saw it in person, I would really like it, but I will most likely never get that chance because I live out in the styx. If what he said was true, I might actually enter the lotteries for it, but I'll never know. I can't cry to much though I live 2 hours from Chicago, I think about someone like Daimyo, and realize that's some true dedication,

Re: What If... you had unlimited space for your collection...
I'd have to modify this a bit to unlimited space AND unlimited collecting funds. Under those conditions, I'd love to expand my collecting to historic, racing, exotic and muscle cars ala Jay Leno. SO many vehicles I'd love to own and drive. Would be so cool to have a huge, museum-like garage surrounded by a private track complete with pits.

I guess if board-game based reenactment suicide were my thing I'd much rather be sprung in the air from a teeter-totter into a small, above-ground pool to solve my wife's rodent problems than gnawed to death by starved, angry semi-aquatic prehistoric beasts, but I guess that's just me. An added bonus is that house would smell a lot better while I was alive and my yard would look kick ass.

^ The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand.
Or so I have read.
@slipstar1 - love the library idea, Michael! Being in Michigan as well, not exactly a sofubi hub, I've often fantasized about that very thing.

Re: What If... you had unlimited space for your collection...
Unlimited space huh? One word: Mandarake For anyone that hasn't experienced it, this is much more than just a store. I would love someplace like this where you could showcase your collection of, well, anything - toys, books, videos, comics, models. In both glass cabinets and loose, I would love just to show off what I found fun and would let other people come in and check stuff out, play around with it, whatever. One change I would institute is having a 'lounge' area with some old couches and a tube TV or something, where you could pick whatever you wanted off the library and enjoy it. Oh, you know those cheesy toy stores where they have trains (or used to) going through the whole store? Well, I would set up something similar with dioramas and playsets all over the place filled with sofubi in action

I'd collect japanese toy collectors, then I'd up the ante and start nabbing the toy makers.
