I can't stand this argument. Why is it pointless?

It's pointless because nothing will change. Sure, amethyst was outed and people here won't sell him stuff now, but ultimately nothing will change. There are far too many flippers that naming 1, 5, 20, 50 of them isn't going to do anything. "True collectors" will still lose lotteries and flippers will still win them...and people will continue to buy from the flippers.
That, to me, is why it's pointless. But kudos for the one outing! (Sincerely, not sarcastically.)

I would also like to add that I did not intentially sell it after I was warned/told not to. It's no excuse but the circumstances were different back then. It was still fucked and I should have known that you weren't supposed to sell it, especially in that way. I wasn't pointing my middle finger at everyone and saying I don't care what happens to your lotteries. I just had privileges taken away.

Car, housing and card markets likely do not have a community that will have your back if you have theirs. I sell cars to make money and no one cares because if they sell me a car they will be making money. When I sell hard to get toys to people for retail or less, it's nice to have the favor returned or at the very least not flip it to make the money I intentionally went without.

It is funny that in this thread this is the only issue you take with him.

And, as much as I like Glenn Pogue, I think there should be some consequences for him not responding quicker to the shipping/refunds from his last sale on the board, not that it will probably matter to him at this point. Not to high jack this thread, but does he still owe toys/refunds to anyone? Has he failed to contact anyone still yet?

Fuck, I've bought lots of stuff from Hank and supported his flipper ways. Guess I'll go flip them on ebay to wash my hands clean.

I think Hank has more than made up for that 1 mistake too. I also doubt he ever tried to justify it with "everyone does it" and "we're all to blame".

Yeah, that's why I get cranky whenever I see "RFSO" thrown about like it actually means something.
Actually - I do think there's a lot of rfso (I'll lower-case to differentiate from the above version which I scorn). But it's generally more behind-the-scenes, and done with people you know or are at least familiar with. And, IMO, that's how it should be. That's real. You're doing good to those who you know (generally) deserve it. When you put a RFSO blanket out there that's when people you don't know - people like Amethyst - are able to take advantage and flip the good deals that people feel obligated to make in the name of RFSO.

Besides ticketmaster still being able to legally rape you, ticket resales depend on the applicable law. Many places its only illegal to be reselling the tickets on the property or at the actual event. So your blanket statement isn't true.

That is why I stated earlier today that this is becoming too much of a witch hunt. At what point should a flip concern the board: $100 profit in 1 week, or $2000 in 3?

For really bad violations that seem to be against the rules of the board, perhaps we could ask for action as Slack has?

The point is that finally, just as with Hank, mistakes too can be forgiven and forgotten, if the member asks for that. This board is about toys, not sales statistics. I hope none of us thinks of themselves as toy policemen instead of toy fans.

Flippers are going to flip.
But this board pretends to have a RFSO attitude. It doesn't.
I think Slack's original intention was trying to stop people from using the board to get good deals and then flip them for a profit, not stop flippers in general.
I could be wrong.
I could be right.

I'm talking about 2 different things.
And you could read my much longer and earlier post about "flipping" back here.

1. most artists don't live to see their work reach acclaim. I like that this is changing and people can make a living being creative in something other than "fine art", i.e. industrial design process work (toys) is being bought and achieves value beyond the initial sales. Usually purchased by dealers, collectors and museums or galleries.

2. Sometimes a very old and very rare piece, or a large collection is sold et al, and it is accompanied by often high price tags. The pieces I'm referring to are toys from the 1950's to the 1980's, as that is what I mostly pursue. And yes there are items in the $20k range that should the opportunity present itself... I'd purchase.

My interest is in archiving and sharing knowledge about toys, the design and creative process and the production process.
I very much look forward to my one day dream of a Museum of Modern Toy Art and Design opening.

But saying it's clueless for me to spend $20k means it is as equally as idiotic for a toy maker to waste $20k in sculpts, molds, and production runs.

If people aren't willing to invest in the history and preserve it, or help produce new work: No one will ever see any toys for sale or even for display.

I read (ok skim since the one was a long enough diatribe to make me forget what kind of board I was on) your posts and I hate them for the same reason I frown on people who feel all snobby about their art toys. Attitude.

Lame. I don't care about any of that.

I'm just a dude painting monsters in his apartment for people who (I hope) are my friends. One of the CKs from my micro run was bought and promptly flipped on eBay for $20.00 bucks more than I was selling them for. This pissed me off for a few reasons.

1.) Twenty fucking dollars! This assjack burned me for a measly twenty bucks! What does that say about him? Shit, if the dude needed twenty bucks that bad he could have asked me for it.

2.) It went STRAIGHT to eBay. I only painted 10 of 'em and I know there were people here that wanted one and missed out.

3.) I'm NOBODY in the toy-art world. It's super weird to have someone speculating on one of my customs like that. I feel like it says something horrible about our little world we've got here.

Don't get me wrong, I still think most of the collectors here are great. I've painted a bunch of toys over the last few years. Not as many as some, but a bunch. Through it, I've managed to meet a lot of rad people and I'm proud to have some of my toys in such amazing collections. It just really startled me when someone pointed out to me that one of my toys was up on eBay...never thought I'd see it happen.
