Post Re: Exercise/Fitness/Outdoors Thread
I want to congratulate everyone here for making a big effort and try to keep yourself in good shape.
I been a La Fitness member for over a year ago now, I lose about 40 pounds until December last year by going to the gym 4-5 times a week, than the holidays arrived, my workouts decreased so I gained back about 10 pounds, for some reason I been going to the gym less often now than when I started in the beginning.
I really need to get back on track like I used to and watch what I eat, my wife already is giving me a hard time again because my belly starts to show up again. I better listing to her.

Take care of you guys and keep yourself active, that is the best hobby you can have in your life.

Personally though, just going for a long run is a great way to clear your head and relieve stress. I put my earphones in and just run off everything.

Yeah, I can see this. And my friends who run all say the same thing. But it's definitely not for me - decades of skiing/snowboarding and playing basketball have already taken a toll on my knees. Heck - even cycling isn't great for knees, but I don't bike long distances anymore and take my commute fairly easy.

This Spring will be all about Piru Creek. Eventually it's a one way 12 hr trek but I am the lead so I have to go a few times by myself for part ways to get to know the area.

Lots of other So Cal treks planned as well.

Body surf in the summer.

Lift, plyometrics, power yoga but it all fluctuates with laziness and sugar binges.

I've lost about 170 lbs over 4-5 years.

This is very impressive. I was able to watch your progress here! Congratulations :!:

Thanks, I don't mention it much because I don't care to talk about it unless someone asks advice. I always tell people there is not big secret. I didn't go vegan, vegetarian, I didn't eliminate any single thing from my diet. I just made a big change towards healthy eating and worked out. It doesn't mean that I don't occasionally indulge in "fatty" foods but it's all done in moderation. It's a classic case of quality over quantity for me.

Just adding to what everybody else is saying, I had been feeling lethargic and out of breath after going up just a few flights of stairs.I was drinking coffee by the gallon.
I started hitting the gym after work about 5 weeks ago and have seen pretty rapid increases in strength/endurance. For instance, when I started I was struggling with 3 sets of 30 crunches on a declined bench, now I do 3 sets of 50, time to increase the amount.

The only element missing- aerobic exercise . I used to like jogging with a group, in formation, but it's just so boring alone. My gym has a rowing machine, I need to get on that.

Daily vitamins help with the energy level also, nothing fancy. Eating healthier, non processed foods helps greatly too.

Once you get started, it's not that hard to keep going.

It's really amazing how quickly the human body can recover from non-activity. Congrats I bet it feels great.

I'm more than willing to put a Skullbrain running team together. SDCC could look just like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgd0-qw4jYI
