MattyBoomBatty wrote: Slightly off topic, kind of along the same vein but what do you call guys on this forum who think they're pretty hot shit who contact you in PMs to tell you that although you claimed a toy in the sale thread because that's what the instructions say to do and the seller is currently away for the weekend they're just contacting you to tell you that "Ha ha sucked in, I'll be getting that toy because that guy is my friend and he'll sell it to me regardless." Isn't there a name for those guys too? That's worse then flippers because your stupid enough to buy from the flippers thats your problem, these guys are basically contacting me to say "Hi, I'm a shithead and I thought I'd PM you to tell you." That's happened to me here from guys fairly recently...and not new guys, not even rare toys.
Way worse than flipping. What is that.....I wanted to b-itch about it like a bitchy b-itch. OUST THE DOUCHEBAG

I haven't bought a toy in several months, but I've come by recently to catch up with a few pals and give away/sell cheaply some toys I'm not as in love with anymore. I've always enjoyed giving people good deals on here but that damn Maza is going to be hanging around for a long time. I regret the shit out of that

Re: oust the flipper
All right....so here's my problem with ousting this fool. I know people want me too. 1. I've talked to people about it today and they got me to go look it all up and I found out the real reason this pissed me off: I have two pms from the guy where he initiates contact but the actual "I'm getting that toy" was an email sent to Smash Tokyo Toys when I was at work (which was intentional I assume) he'll just deny everything, ousting him is a waste of time.... I just wanted to know if that was common and what you call that because I know it happens, one of you guys sold me that exact toy $10 cheaper recently anyway (I love you guys) and that guy and the seller are 2 and 3 in my "shit list" so I'm happy. Also, I don't remember it happening and don't have any real anger/connection with it now it just seems more scummy than flipping because flipping is something initiated by us because we want something, whatever that was is done by scumbags being douchebags and then they laugh about it and I can't punch them. I'll keep an eye out for some flippers for you though. I love me some $250 common MummyBoys on Ebay!!!!

Hey
Hey, I lost my memory really bad recently and my wife tells me I've been pouring over your site for nearly 2 years researching kaiju/sofubi etc. Unfortunately, I don't remember anything now but I guess I must love the site because when I look at it I think it's fantastic but I don't remember the companies now and I'm supposed to be doing a new Japanese vinyl series with Velocitron and I have about 25 folders full of designs, art and company stuff that I have been relearning.
Since I got sick I haven't heard back from him so I'm freaking out a little because everyone I know has sat me down and told me this is the biggest thing in my life and I've prepared for it for years. He's a busy guy though!
Anyway, just wanted to write and say I don't know if we've spoken before but your site is in my "Most visited list" and my wife says I spend all my time reading your articles....hopefully one day my vinyl robots might be on there!

Re: oust the flipper
If you have some free time, some history: eBay handle list from 2007 and debate on flipping: http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9700Fun fact: several people who posted in that thread are thieves Thread on a release that turned into a thread on CIBOTL and how the board isn't what it used to be (2007): http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=15993Fun fact: people were super touchy-feely ...and I was going to post a few more, but really, people are just repeating themselves constantly. But hey, that's life. I'm sort of curious about CIBOTL though. Does it cover the same topics as here?

Re: oust the flipper
I think this old thread is still really relevant: http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4301It shows how reciprocal this board can be. This topic at hand is nothing new here. It just rears it's ugly head from time to time, usually with a influx of a lot of new people. While I don't condone flipping at all. The old adage there is a sucker born every minute applies. If people are dumb enough to try to play the "I'm going to build my collection with the hottest shit around no matter what it costs!" game, then let them suffer and be broke. Do the homework, get to know people here. It will make this hobby much more fun for you in the long run.

Re: oust the flipper
How times have changed...or haven't. Years ago, people were gaga over everything and wanted everything. A little competition or increase in collectors sure caused some anxiety. Today it's the same deal, newer members come in and want all the new hot toys, but they want the new hot toys of their time, not SB from 6 years ago, or Marmit from 10 years ago.
Here's my advice, and I'm not just going to tell people to pay no more than retail, or flippers to not flip and watch out for collectors. Because that will never change. There are decades of and decades of toys floating around unwanted and cheap and not hyped and some of them are really cool, much cooler in fact than that brand new hyped toy that just sold for $1500. Do some research, dive in, explore the back catalog of sofubi. You'd be amazed what gems you can snatch up on YJA for 1000 yen. Don't think of the show your collection as a trophy room where you have to have whatever is going for triple retail on ebay. Don't feel like you're in a pissing competition with anyone. Just have fun and explore and find new toys to be interested in. Then you won't be bothered if you don't win every lottery because there is plenty else to be interested in and collect.

Not that it's going to get read... I'm a big fan of Coop's work. Of the three framed pieces of art in my bedroom, two are Coop pieces (The Urinals/Creeper Lagoon and the Dismemberment Plan and an original sketch)... but yeah. I can't help but see a little double standard here; Coop calls you out, makes a personal attack.. and it's ok. You publish the entire interaction to defend yourself, and you're the asshole. Seems like you need to pass out some chapstick for the ass kissers. In the end- BOTH sides- you AND Coop- should have handled this in PM.
