It definitely lightened it, but like many have said here, nothing ever truly removes permanent marker. I'm ok with it though.
Like someone else mentioned, I think that marker gives the figure a lot of character. I've seen Kaijuzoo do some amazing restorations, but I guess that could take away from the fun of scoring a toy on the cheap. I guess I would be tempted to do restoration, since I'm set up already. I'm just curious of how others feel, I know my statement, might seem outrageous to some, but hey "Me and the fellas are just asking questions, is all".

I gotta agree with Lixx, repainting it would be a big mistake. The original paint/patina are a big part of the charm. If you wanted a perfect clean looking figure you could just buy a repro. Repainting leaves you with essentially a shitty custom toy. This has already been discussed quite a bit on here, old thread

Re: Some Vintage Toys- more pics & a cleanup
I'm personally against repainting...but that's just me. I feel that if it's YOUR toy, do whatever the fuck you want with it. Like, no one can deny the joy in that dude's eyes who got KaijuZoo to repaint his Hawaiian Megalon. That was his toy and his decision, and it worked out for him. The world's a better place. Which, I think, is the point of toys.
But again, I like the little scuffs and stains and all that on my vintage toys. They help me remember that this thing was truly enjoyed by someone in the past. The only thing I do when I get an old vinyl is wash the thing in warm, soapy water (with gentle scrubbing from a toothbrush). The scuffs, paint rubs, and whatnot, I can live with...the dirt, not so much!
