So good!

I'm a really big fan of both Darkseid, and Thanos, but messing with Kirby's work feels akin to drawing a mustach on the Mona Lisa. I love Lamour's "Kirby" tribute work, and normally I'm a huge fan of Walter's designs (I'm assuming the IV means this is his work), but this feels a little disjointed. Of course that could be intentional (?). Really the biggest issue is the font up top, and the bear nose, if those two things were faded a little more, I think it would look a lot better.

Slipstar, I totally feel you. It was a risk (or amateur mistake) I was willing to make. I loved Kirby's art and the original Thanos inking, but also wanted to "deface" it, or distort it with a bootleg mentally in mind. I referred to old comic book art, covers and mexican bootleg toy headers for Batman and Superman. Something you look at first glance and get it, but also looks a bit off the more you stare at it, like "wait a minute, this is a Bootleg! What is this?!".
Believe me, you should have seen the first round I sent over. They were horrendous, and actually kept me up half of the night last night till I got to work this morning and re-drew the faces, and also touched up the whole thing. I could have redrawn the whole character like I did with the Beetlejuice header, and thought about it, but like I said, I wanted to keep some of the original, and just trash and junk it up a bit. Almost as if I was drawing a mustache on Mona Lisa.
And I won't lie, I was hella nervous when Greg asked me about doing this header, given the concept of two big giant villians (you've only seen one side!) and I was almost going to defer to someone else. But I love comics, loved the idea, and I love challenge, and I took it on because I totally had a vision of what I would do.
I even thought to myself, "Well, this might the last time I ever get asked to do a header" when I turned these in, fearful for what I have done (I even felt weird drawing over original art), but I stuck to my guns and did what I would have done whether I was asked to do them or not. And I appreciate Greg and L'amour for giving me the opportunity again and letting me do my thing!

No surprises here on the insert. I requested Gazin back in with his original Bootleg flyer art. I know he loves comics (great column on VICE, check it out!) and thought it'd be great to get the OG flyer packed in to complete this destructive release.

Was a huge fan of Blek le Rat, Banksy back in the day. And I've always been fascinated with the concept of an art thief. I get this mental image of a man dressed in black, with some shady eyes, and looting art off the shelves, or going around and doodling on an installation.
One day I'll visit Europe. Eat pizza and look at art...
*Edit: Unrelated. but was just watching the Travel Channel, and London appears to have the best grilled cheese sandwich!

But yeah, I always like explaining and giving a "behind the scenes" on how I came up with the work.
When I was Photoshopping off comic elements, I totally stared at the Marvel tab with the Fantastic Four heads in the corner. And that when it occurred to me "Lobster Roll is The thing, Killshot is Flame dude, Keep Watch is well... Keep Watch eye!" Hahaha. I always been intrigued by Twerps (Greg) creation of Lobster Roll. Would love to know the story with that thing. So once I saw the opportunity to sneak him in, I went for it!
I then did tons of image searching for backgrounds, and found a great panel from Captain Marvels issue where the Earth was set for Total Destruction! Thought it'd be a great background for Thanos.
And well, all the rest is pretty much self-explanatory.

I myself can't wait to see the painted Bootlegs!
