my wife and i have been working with the local japanese american service committee on their annual fund raising event to bring a bit of our cross-cultural toy community into the mix. due to incredible generosity from mark nagata and rotofugi, we are able to add some great items to the auction.

the silent auction is normally open only to those in attendance, but we worked out a deal with them to allow outsiders to bid. it's a trial run (this is the first time they're opening a phone line) so they are limiting outside bids to just the custom eyezon. here is the phone number to place your bid:

the jasc is a very important body that grew out of the service group that helped japanese americans from internment camps to resettle in the chicago area. it has become a non-profit organization which provides social services (such as adult day care) and cultural events & classes (including ikebana and taiko), and it is working hard to bring attention and raise funding to continue to provide excellent services to its community.
