 Toy Shop Review Thread
Hello Skullbrainers.... is that right? Has anybody had previous transactions or experience at all with this website? I've searched for his handle and the phrase 'toy boot sale' on here with no luck. I would really like to buy a thing or two from him, but I don't know if it's a good idea. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you all.

Yeah I bought all my kid onions and kid reapers from him. I guess I better quick buy that Pete and Gururu Kun from him as well.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! This board is really quick, but then again it is Friday night in the Western Hemisphere Leave me a Gill-Kun please. I don't get paid for a week, and I'm not even sure if I can afford it then, but I wanted to plan ahead. Cheers

Re: Anyone have experience with Doc18's Toy Boot Sale?
I have searched just now, and also back before I posted this thread, for toy store/seller reviews here. No luck.
If anyone else sees the benefit of having a retailer review thread, then maybe we can make this into one? I know that a lot of folks would probably see that as something that the individual needs to learn on their own, except in the case of outright theft or fraud, but I know that I would find having that kind of specialist information localized here more helpful than constantly having to scour Yelp or just blind googling a seller's ID.

There we go! My first negative comment! I might take it more seriously if you took the time to at least give yourself an avatar. Seriously though; I will post up how my transactions went with various online retailers as the orders arrive. If anyone else wants to join in please feel free. Of course I would expect everyone to take anything posted here with the standard grain of salt.

Re: Anyone have experience with Doc18's Toy Boot Sale?
Thanks, Mods, for moving this thread to a better forum for it. I put it in Japanese Toys at first because that seemed to be most of what the store I was asking about carried. Sorry for the hassle. audiodifficulties wrote: Hello child android. Yes, I have an account over there as well, just like 50% of the people here probably do. I don't like that forum as much as this one.

Best brace yourself for a couple more, this is about to get ugly. Seriously though, thank you so much for bringing the whole retail rating system to everyone's attention, I don't know how SB's survived the past 9 years without one. How would you rate S7?

How would you rate S7? Well, I wasn't trying to be a prick, but if I have to come in and make a thread asking about each new little hole-in-the-wall website I find like Doc18's or Takara Porkbun, then yes; it seems like there might be a demand for a thread where people can say "hey I just bought a MIB RxH from them and they didn't just walk off with my cash". (Plus it would be annoying to people for me to make a bunch of threads like that.) That kind of thing can help others to shop in smaller 'no-name' shops with less worry. I don't think there would be much point in me 'rating' a company like S7. They are a manufacturer and a storefront that thousands of people have dealt with for years with no problems, and they have a very good reputation all around. I wouldn't hesitate to drop a couple hundred dollars there at a time, as if I had that kind of moolah. But that's my point: everybody already knows S7, but who here has shopped at Takara Porkbun?

 Re: Toy Shop Review Thread
Well at least you're not posting inane "me too" or +1 posts yet. That's a good start. As far as toy shops go (and said reviews)- there are very very few shops (especially stateside) dealing with strictly japanese sofubi or kaiju (that's not the watered down westernized version of it). Most buy from individuals or auctions. As for the few stores that sell it, everyone has been dealing with for years and know all the quirks involved or when to check for pre orders etc.
People here tend to get very annoyed with being told something they already know or threads that don't really relate specifically to japanese toys. In short that site you posted, the toys probably would make most here want to poke their eyes out with a flaming spear.

I made a wild stab at initally putting this in the Japanese section. What threw me is Whatever says in the description basically anything other than toys. So I looked at what I was interested in from that site (BxH), didn't know the rest of the toys from Optimus Prime, and posted there. I figured that the Mods would move it as they saw fit, but I don't get any hostility towards the idea of relating your experiences with online resellers... of course most US people are going to be into [expletive deleted], etc. and that's going to be most of what they sell. Unfortunately. In short: My bad!

 Re: Toy Shop Review Thread
The point that I was making is that in today's day and age, a sellers list/store list is moot. There's already one of those on (blank). If your buying something online, the only way you could get ripped off is if you send out cash, and why anyone would do that is beyond me. Besides it's hard enough trying to score releases, if you know a store that's selling Japanese vinyl, you really want to keep that info in your back pocket for later. If you have an awesome idea, do some digging, and I guarantee the vet's have already addressed it. If you don't see it, it's not that great of an idea. Try and have a symbiotic relationship with this place, and you might have fun (or at least go insane).

 Re: Toy Shop Review Thread
hey Purple Bat,
I know you're trying to be helpful and add some fresh ideas to the board. I tried the same thing years ago. While I don't want to discourage you from expressing your ideas, just keep in mind that this is a surly group.
one analogy might be someone walking into a biker bar and suggesting adding wine coolers to the menu.
