DON'T BE A SHEEP TO THE HYPE.
Someone put this on a shirt, that's gold.
Put heaps of sheep on it, and then have one all blinged up with ten different fads on it carrying a slinky. Sell them only in Japan and Argentina in dollar stores.

Post Re: Toy thoughts
I had to laugh hysterically with the Star Wars is lame! I recently told that to one of my wife's friends who is a major SW fan while he was eating dinner with us. I thought he would first choke on his burger, then I was not sure if the vein in his head would not burst, and finally, I think I will never hear the end of it now. Star Wars and lame do not belong in the same sentence with him...
Still makes me smile!
But seriously, to each their own, I have no interest in collecting 'insert here' but you have to respect the extent to which each of us, and most collectors, go in the effort to expand the collection.

I think Nags are boring. I love the crudeness of them as that's one main thing I look for in toys, but the hype surrounding them actually killed my desire to ever find one, when it seems to have an inverse effect on most (Wow, everyone wants this! I should want this too! Even if I don't want it I can trade flip it or throw it up on eBay!). I'm curious if anyone else feels that way as well.

I'm glad to say I don't like Nags, Bemons, Ollies, Boss Carrions, Rebel Captains, Miborahs or Cadaver Kids. Makes my life a lot easier. Also makes it a lot harder to sell anything.

Digression: I remember a letter in the Wire (the music magazine, not the TV show) where someone was complaining that they were selling out because they were having major musicians like John Cage on their cover. The editors answered by saying they found hilarious that anyone would think that having John Cage on the cover would help sell anything. In Kaiju? Hype means moving 50-100 pieces instead of 20. :D

Ha, the only reason why I bough The Wire for many years is because there were people like John Cage on the cover!!

There's a very fine line between the feverish "gotta have it" mentality, and being over it.

C'mon, dude. You got called out for trying to sell it here for $550. $200 and maybe you'd have sold it, $550 is just greedy.

Post Re: Toy thoughts
I bought it because I have never owned an HxS toy before, and I genuinely like the sculpt and paint.

I tried selling because a Cococroc was offered to me, which I have been after for some time now. I currently have a no toy buying rule, so I was desperately trying to find some way to afford the Cococroc without hurting my bank account balance. Sorry if it seemed greedy, but I have not seen a Tyranno Ju for sale yet besides the super high-priced one on yja and put a price to cover the Cococroc and one that is lower than I have seen Gorilla Ju and Mecha Gorilla Ju sold for. Interestingly, the original battle set with paint damage sold on here for $800-900 recently (retail 21,000 yen) and no one blinked. What would the reaction had been if I had just went straight to ebay and not offer the toy here first, like people constantly ask sellers to do?

Anyway, I acted too rashly and changed my mind and canceled the sale (even though a couple people were ready to pay) and am keeping him. I decided to just be patient wait for another Cococroc and save money in the meantime...

I'd pay close attention to 3,5,6 in your case....especially 6 'always have money saved'. I'm having a hard fathoming that you yourself wrote this then didn't heed your own advice. Then again I'm never surprised here anymore...

Russblue11 wrote:
3. Toys aren’t investments
Don’t expect to get what you paid back when you try to sell a toy. Selling toys shouldn’t be your emergency fund or your full-time job (unless you run an actual store). I recently read Brian Flynn’s interview in the Mook, where he talked about how he bought kaiju when no one wanted it, and then suddenly the kaiju scene took off and it’s become impossible to buy some toys now. Toy prices fluctuate pretty wildly - invest in something else if you want to make money.

5. Stop buying into the hype!!!
Buy something because YOU want it, not because you know twenty other people do.

This is a bad analogy because toys aren’t investments, but think of the stock market. Good brokers don’t buy when the stocks are at their highest price; they buy when others undervalue the stock. If you can score some MVH from Rich’s release at retail, good for you! But don’t miss out and then rush to buy at an overinflated price from someone else. Wait a bit, and you will almost always be able to find it again for a decent price. Don’t let the flippers win!
Note: There is a difference between flippers and people who are just selling on ebay. You can usually tell if they try to hide their identity.

6. Miracles happen – always have money ready!
I didn’t think I’d ever own an HP Rangeas or the PK Bemon I recently got, but it happened - give it time, and anything can happen. Don’t be the guy who sees one of his grails pop up for sale, and then feels disappointed because the seller put “no holds.” You also don’t want to deal with the hassle of selling off a bunch of toys to afford something. Have money ready for the unexpected surprises :)

Nobody said a word when Joe sold his battle set that retailed for 240, for 860. Joe is a nice guy, but I'm sure Russ is as well.
