So, a gas mask or an oxygen mask would come in handy for some people, huh?

Yeah, nothing too exciting this year so far, the Lulubell event should have some good stuff if it's anything like the Cotton Candy event at NYCC last year.

Re: SDCC 12: Planning, attendees, questions...
^^^ I have one tip for the new SDCC'er.. Think about bringing a good amount of money to blow, then bring about double that because it will be easy to spend. Many booths do take credit cards, but cash is king! Just because the exclusives aren't looking that hot, you might just find some old base or pus you've been looking for, unless your Scary Andy and you already have one of everything. Not too mention, I could prob break the bank just at the 5&ADime show. Also, the Con is huge!! don't get overwhelmed when you get there, just head to the back left corner where most likely you will end up spending 90% of your time. Unless you have a fetish for Comicbook Guys, Anime girls & actual comic books, you won't miss too much on the right side.

Re: SDCC 12: Planning, attendees, questions...
You would be making a big mistake just staying around the toy areas. Tons of cool stuff on the right side, old toys, cheap comics, indie publishers, and Snoopy! I love that Giant Robot is still not the right side and didn't migrate to the other side where its very easy to get lost in the shuffle. I remember them back in 98 selling Michael Lau figures before anybody else brought that kind of stuff there.

Re: SDCC 12: Planning, attendees, questions...
Just remember when they say "right side" their talking like three blocks away from the "left side." My first Comic Con I literally never left the left. When I finally ventured down to the right I ended up finding my first Yamomark Mushroom Soup Man at this booth where Hossy from PopSoda was holding court.

Oh yeah that was the 2009 Toy Hungry booth way over in aisle #4 (Booth 429). I think of that area as the "Anime Section" of the room, it's my second stop after the Toy Grower's Cultyard (or whatever SDCC is calling it nowadays). Newbies to SDCC should heed Plastichunter's advice and take a trip to the right at least once. And he's right about the "three blocks away"...there are 53 aisles total!

Re: SDCC 12: Planning, attendees, questions...
Despite Funiyara no longer having a booth at SDCC ( ), there are still plenty of gems to find on the right side of the con! There's a booth with great gig posters, old horror magazines, and even a few pushead items every year. On top of that, various vintage toy booths, awesome art, bizarre finds, etc. Dedicate at least one day to exploring the entire con!

Re: SDCC 12: Planning, attendees, questions...
Not to say there's nothing to see down yonder, maybe I was a tad generalizing. More like when you first get there, check in the back left corner to get your bearings and make sure you have your booths / schedules correct for any special events that day. Then you will find time in-between to wander the spandex laden miles of con madness.

I believe there may be an item for which I would like to request Mule Services, LLC; is it appropriate to put the word out here?
Hope so, ‘cause I just done did it.

I think I'd be spending a lot of time on "the right side", when I did CC years ago I sold Japanese toys but when I was on break it was a bee line to Horror and 60's car junk I'd always find. Not sure what's at CC now.

Re: SDCC 12: Planning, attendees, questions...
Would anybody be interested in doing a swapmeet/tradefest one evening? I know a lot of people are flying in, but there are some SD locals attending and others driving from various places as well. I'll be in the process of moving so I will already have most if not all of my toys packed up with me. If people are interested then we can start brainstorming for places to set up.
