It's easy :D

if you guys want, I'll put on a skullbee costume and lead the party around holding a large RFSO / Kubrick World Flag!

Or just meeting people at any point would work also...

and as there are two other Bostonians on these thread maybe a carpool is in order!

Hey, we're going down that way, but we're leaving Friday afternoon and taking the Greyhound..cheaper than driving IMO. If you buy a ticket in advance online it's like $40 r/t.

normally i'd tackle the unknown with gleeful abandon, but i once got myself hella lost all by my lonesome trying to navigate public transportation in the city.

Jackie,

We're taking the subway too as far as I know, and I'm sure we'll meet up beforehand so no worries! I'm not the best with the NYC subway either but we'll all figure it out ! :D

Gotta work out a few more things before I'm 100%

And I will be taking the trains to if I make it so we all should meet up.

i think we're all training it Jackie. Everyone will have to take the train into the city because it'll probably be the easiest way. If you're coming into Grand Central, look for the green circles that say 4,5,or 6. Take either of those trains downtown to Union Square, 14th St. Transfer, (don't exit the turnstiles) but look for connecting tunnels to the L. Gray circle with an L. Take that Brooklyn Bound 3 stops to Bedford Ave. High 5 is only a couple of blocks away. here's the map. See if you can follow it. maybe we can arrange a meet up in NYC for the out of towners.

http://mta.info/nyct/maps/submap.htm

This sounds pretty easy. is it the same thing to go back ?

And I think there is a few of us that would like to meet up just be be sure.

Just pretend you know where you're going
Seriously, the thing is over at 11. It'll probably carry on into the city or some local hipster Williamsburg joint. We should travel in a big group for the people concerned and out of town.

not only is it extra far for people outside the city, but we have to try and catch midnight trains out (even though the event ends at 11:00 pm)

i don't plan on going.
john told me he feels the same earlier tonight,

it don't really know who this set up is good for. certainly not for board members outside of the city.

sorry if this sounds obnoxious. i'm just upset this hasn't been geared towards people trying to arrive and leave the city :( i believe(?) most of us don't live in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

Or anywhere near the location for that matter.

I agree I would have to take trains into the city and subways, but I still wanna try to make it to meet everyone. I wish it was held at TT or close to TT like first thought that would have been wayyyy easier.

I'm gonna have to leave CT at like 3:00 in the afternoon and watch the clock like a I FART A LOT to make sure I dont miss trains. Also sinse I never took the subway to Brooklyn I cant fuck up or I will defnitly be missing the train.

I was getting to what jackie posted and it's definitely going to be aproblem being that far into the city..When originally discussed it was going to be at the show room next to TT..Not so bad but the middle of Brooklyn isnt the best spot for out of towners like she said..Really a bummer because i was looking forward to this too..

BTW have also spoken to several other members about this and don't think they'll be making it now either-Just a heads up,Also stated too far into the city and people have to travel home via train/bus/car..

It's really not that bad. The train ride from Grand Central is probably 1/2hour tops maybe not even. It's just on the other side of Williamsburg bridge too. Kubrikworld went out on a limb to put this together and he's making some spinach pie! i can't let down my RFSO bro. If people want to meet somewhere else or closer to their trains in the city, I'm down for that too, but I gotta represent at High 5.

i know people like kubrickworld went out on a limb, which is why this is so hard to bring up!
brings up some major guilt, right?
hopefully he didn't make a pie this week, lol....

point is, this is happening late and in brooklyn.
this isn't an enjoyable pain, this is kind of a big fucking deal to manage.
like john has his little girl.
we're not 20 anymore! we gotta be back and alive early in the morning. :(

thats life you know?
i'd love to just chill in the city, so would john. but this is beyond having a fun weekend. this is REALLY difficult for more than a few people :(

i mean, no hate about this going off, its just not reasonable for some out-of-staters :( :( :(

sigh, back to crummy land

I hear you Jackie. No guilt intended. I didn't mean it like that. i'm sorry if that's how I came off. Like I said, whatever you guys feel comfortable with, I'm there.

it's not going to be a problem for me, but i understand what you guys are saying. you gotta catch a train home, and timing is everything.

i do hope you guys come though ;)

okay, first off the event was never going to be at Toy Tokyo. Their shop isn't set up for more than 6 people inside it and those of you who've ventured into it know how small it is.

Their gallery space, the Showroom was booked up way before we had planned this so the only other option was Hi-Five and the space outside of the store.

For those of you staying in Jersey, the amount of time it would take from hi-five to / from Jersey is roughly 35 minutes and that's by bus. I went from the Crown Plaza convention center to the Port Authority = 20 minutes. You hop a train down to 8th avenue and then pick up the "L" train to Brooklyn...maybe another 15 minutes. a two minute walk will find you at the store. show up at 7:00, split at 8:30 and you'll be back in Jersey by 9:15.

The event cannot be any earlier since this would impact the other shops that are within the mini-mall that Hi-Five is in. The time is set more by the landlords than by Toy Tokyo / Kubrick World and is standard for all openings and events held within this building.

As for getting around, I moved here from the cornfields of Indiana which has no public transportation to speak of and didn't have any problems getting around. The maps are very clear and you can also use websites like http://www.hopstop.com to get door-to-door subway / bus directions to your destinations. The biggest thing to remember is that you're either going to be Brooklyn bound (east), Manhattan Bound (west or sometimes you'll see "uptown or downtown, which is north and south manhattan).

If you guys want, we can always plan on meeting up someplace then going over as a group if you feel more comfortable doing that. Hopefully we can get something worked out so that all of us can get together and have a great time!

oh yeah, and for safety issues = Williamsburg is the hipster hotspot for brooklyn. The only thing you might run into is a flock of hot girls going out to the bars. The bars and restaurants around there won't even start hopping until 10:00 and that's when it becomes crowded with people partying.
