Outstanding film. Saw the IMAX version yesterday. The last 20 minutes of the film closed the trilogy with a bang, closed/opened plot threads, and fulfilled all my expectations without being predictable.

What happens to Gotham mirrors class anger now, and shows a scary picture of what could come if things keep getting economically worse.

The one scene, earlier in the film, where Batman comments on Catwoman's departure while his back was turned was hilarious.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie; if you're familiar with the Knightfall arc in the Batman comics, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It is an adept modernization of the crazy '90s comic storyline.

Some of the other superhero movies that have attempted trilogies faltered in the end, but I agree that this was a strong finish. Possibly the best of the three Nolan Batman movies.

I think the thing I liked most about this movie is that Christopher Nolan wanted to always direct a movie about Bruce Wayne...and not just Batman. He made you care the character and in that regard it was highly successful.

Some day it would be great to see a reboot showing Batman's detective skills. I don't anything like has really been done.

Back to the Colorado incident for a quick minute,

If I check out certain books from the library, I'll be put on a list. Didn't this nut job order something like 6000 rounds of ammo off the internet and nobody noticed or was notified.

Just saying is all.

It might be safe. I was definitely avoiding this thread until I saw it, but now I can come in and say that I really liked it! I thought it would be awesome, but I was afraid that it wouldn't be, so I was pleasantly surprised that it was!

PS - Maybe I could look into adding a "hidden text" type of feature to the board for this sort of thing…

I was not a Batman fan in terms of comics, but I did pick these up when the Bane story was first introduced (and pre-hyped) back then. I must say, I loved the story. I thought they did an amazing job through all the various Batman comics of the day (i.e., multiple covers, including Detective Comics, Batman, and I forget what else) of showing his non-stop action and eventual exhaustion from fighting all the various villains. For those not familiar with the original story line (and this is not a spoiler since the movie does not follow this story line), Bane releases every villain locked up in the Arkham Asylum. So Batman has to work non-stop fighting every villain he ever captured to "recollect" all of these bad guys. Obviously, this takes its toll on Batman, and we see him suffering from lack of rest as he goes from one villain to another. Finally, when he is nearly completely broken down, Bane shows up and beats the crap outta him. It was really well done in the comics, and you really felt that Batman was wearing down as you followed him in multiple comics each month in continual action. IMO, that was one of the best story lines I recall reading in comics. I don't remember how they explained the origin of Bane in the comics and whether it was consistent with the movie, though.

Now that we have the spoiler feature...

Anyone else catch the similarity with the scene where batman is beating the crap out of Bane screaming, "WHERE'S THE DETONATOR!?" with the previous movie's scene where Batman is beating the crap out of Joker screaming, "WHY DO YOU WANT TO KILL ME!?"

I Literally clapped when Bane, broke Bruce's back, not spot on with the comic. A great adaptation of it I believe though. Gotham saw its worse times out of any live action movie I believe. trully an awesome movie. love the fact that the mercenaries vs the police was actually thousands of people on each side acting. not a small portion just re-CGI'd over and over to make the crowd look bigger. I got teary eyed over Alfred lol.

I agree that it was a good adaptation of the back breaking. I would have liked it to be more obvious that his back was broken in that moment though, because I think people who don't know that storyline might not have caught on that he was broken at that point.

Honestly, I think this sort of thing could have been done cinematically, and would have given the confrontation between Bane and Batman so much more significance. Having Wayne be a broken recluse and out of shape after 8 years out of the action was a really boring set up IMO. I also felt like we didn't see Bane inspire fear and create hope in the people of Gotham. You just saw fear, and so it never seemed like he was so masterful as he said he was going to be in torturing the people of Gotham like he said he would. I don't think this was intentional. It seemed more like poor storytelling to me.

Alfred and Catwoman stole the show. I also enjoyed Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
So is he set up to be Robin in a new film or Nightwing? I don't know the comics well enough.

Post Re: new dark knight rises trailer
depends on whomever the next director is decides to go with it. There was never a John Blake "robin" in the comics. There have been 5 Robin though. and forgive me but I can't remember... but 1 of the 5 actually did take the batsuit. Dick Grayson I believe was Nightwing. as well as Jason Todd? and then J.T turned into the red hood... so many back stories I sometimes forget. The way I see the end of the movie ending, it can have 1 of 2 cases. Blake takes the suit and becomes Batman, or... Bruce still helps Gotham out, as Batman, and Blake as Robin, but bruce can never show the "Bruce" side of himself again in public, as he has "died"... although he was gone 7 years in Batman begins, and was legally dead, and still came back. I honestly hope that maybe it follows Blake as Robin... the reason I say this is because Nola supposedly vowed that this was his last "batman" installment. I guess I hold onto some hope, that maybe he would continue on as a Robin series. lol

While perhaps it was good that they did this, the scene in general was quite absurd. The cops were all with pistols drawn firing at will while charging the criminals standing with automatic weapons out and returning fire; yet only two policemen fall before the two forces clash for hand to hand combat! ROFL! Even if each side missed the intended targets, both sides' mobs were so thickly packed that it would have been impossible not to hit SOMEONE!

Some other issues I had with the movie:

There were a few things that bothered me. One was Christian Bale's mouth. LOL. He had those pursed lips every time he talked, and every time he didn't talk!

Another was his voice when in the costume. I could not stop making fun of him the entire ride home. At one point, when he was speaking to someone who knew his secret identity, he dropped the gruff voice. But later, in a similar situation, he returned to that stupid voice. Continuity!!

A major point - how could a knife pierce his costume? I thought it was bulletproof (Kevlar or something?). Maybe I am mistaken on this, but I thought it must provide some form of protection.

from what i remember from dark knight, they cahnged the costume, that made it more light weight, with the kevlar, but it made him more vulnerable to knives. at least i remember Fox stating this.
