Damn, that Zombie Set is sweet! I love the armored car! Aug 1st, eh? Same day as the new Spider-man set... Zombies will have to wait.

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
I can hardly believe it, but I've used the fact that I own a tub full of Lego blocks as an ice breaker... on the opposite sex... more than once. END OF TIMES
Also, I have a bunch of mini-figure doubles if anyone wants to trade.

I don't know how I feel about Lego making the waist of some female characters slimmer through the printing... Hmmm. Scarlet Johansson sort of made fun of that on Conan.

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out, but it is not really cool. Not something I would get in an uproar over, since the print is hard to distinguish (at least on this one) anyways, but still, there is absolutely no reason behind it, and I am surprised they would even consider it. Even the 'breasts' are questionable. A lot of the new releases make me wonder if Lego is not losing their way a bit. These are supposed to be simple, block toys, all about spurning creativity in building and imagination. Alls you have to do is walk down a Lego aisle at your local department store to see that's essentially gone. And if you don't believe that, then just take a look at the price tags.

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
Yeah. I get the price for quality thing when you compare Lego to other building block brands, but have you seen the profit they're making? They could most definitely afford to make everything a bit cheaper. Look at the uproar that was caused when it was found (or assumed?) some of their bricks used cheaper plastic. They should really not take their fans for granted.
I for one am pretty pissed off that in one of the models I recently bought, 6 GID parts broke in transit. Halfway through studs, too. Definitely cheaper plastic.

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
I am assuming that a large part of the cost for the modern sets goes to license fees, which again, while cool, should not be the principle area of their business in my mind. And yes, sure I am an old guy longing for the 'good old days' but I still think that the pricing on Lego has risen astronomically since the 80s and even 90s, compared with the general inflation of other toy lines.
I hadn't actually read anything specifically about changing their plastic formulation, but a decrease it quality is not a surprise. Complete breakage on the other hand is fully unacceptable. Your feelings are totally understandable Oli - did you write a complaint letter?

Your feelings are totally understandable Oli - did you write a complaint letter? I read that their mainstream lines (City et al.) are still what brings in the most revenue, not the licenses. Licenses sets are anyway more expensive than others per piece. And anyway, wherever from their profit comes, at some point prices should come down or at least not increase. I bought that set second hand, so I can't really complain to anyone. I stronly doubt it's the sellers' fault either, because all the bits of the broken parts were in there.

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
you may wanna check out there piece by piece inventory to see if a replacement can be purchased, I have never tried to deal with lego on something like this but any time I have had a piece missing they get them out ASAP so they may go the extra mile

I buy my individual bricks from Bricklink rather than their site though. Better selection.

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
Damn, those are killer! Something I have never seen before. I actually thought about doing something similar, but for more definition was going to use Nanoblocks (which anyone reading this thread should check out - they are amazing) but the damn things cost so much, and I would need a tonne. I really love the Spectreman especially.

They have have obscure bricks and so many colors of things you didn't know existed, like clear baseplates. Those are the shit.

I have the Creature from the Black Lagoon set, and I'm planning on picking up the Vampire hearse soon. Gotta love oldschool movie monsters!
