I did enjoy dusting my toy collection for a lot of the reasons posted here. But that was when it was smaller and I didn't have roomates who like to cook with onions, bamboo, and nuoc mam. gotta protect the vinyl smells too!

btw, vietnamese food is awesome.

Just worked the cloth last night. And pick up and cleaning various figures has really helped me slim down my collection to the ones I truly really appreciate, and ones I just "have" and need to pass on.
And also makes me want to fill in some empty shelf space.

Monster tracks!

We've used the swiffer, microfibers cloths and the canned air. All of them have drawbacks especially the canned air. We finally settled on this one:

It's got a strong kick but the attachments minimize the force of the air. I had to learn how much distance and which attachments will work for cleaning vinyl. Plus side is I don't have to use canned air ever and I can use it for not just dusting toys but anything that needs blowing out like my PC.

Only con is it's a little strong so you need to be very careful if you're dusting delicate things. We bought it for under $50 seems like the price went up in Amazon.

I'll be building a huge wall-mounted dust free display case for all my Cure toys over the next week or two. I drew up some plans the other week and just ordered all of the necessary hardware, glass and acrylic. I'll post some photos as I'm putting it all together along with the costs involved in case anybody is interested in making one for themselves.

I have a few detolfs and similar shelves, and although they work, I don't like how many figures get hidden towards the back, or otherwised perched on risers, etc. I've always just wanted something low profile that doesn't take up much space, and that shows each full toy in its entirety. And I think custom building it is the only (cost efficient) way of doing it.

Sounds like a great idea! Let us know how much it ends up costing and also how your boogie collection looks like once its all been placed inside the case. I might be down to getting a custom display case made. I really don't like my detolfs

I concur with anyone that has mentioned compressed gas dusters. They are the absolute best because the straw they come with can reach into any sized crevice, and you don't even have to move your collection to dust them.

Sadly, I think I have given up on the war with dust. All my toys are out in the open. Dying.

Per my last post in this thread, here's what I've been working on. Pretty much completed aside from the magnetic catches for the doors. Now I just gotta fill it up! Guessing it'll fit a good 100 Boogies within the top 5 rows, and use the bottom row for some smaller figures.

Thanks dude. They're not inset into the wall, but rather "floating" and wall mounted. About 6 inches deep, so they really don't take up any space at all in my place.

Damn, now THAT is how I like displays. Clean and visible. The size is great despite not taking much room. Would love to know how much it cost you to make it ie time and money. Definitely wish I had the time do it myself. Gotta see if i can get someone to help.

It's definitely not cheap to custom build something of that size, but definitely cheaper than if you bought one pre-fab. All in all, between wood, glass, acrylic sheets, hardware, lights, pilasters and brackets, angle iron, I spent around $600. As far as time goes... spent a half hour there, a few hours there... and tons of trial and error since I've never really built a damn thing in my life. Not to mention I made almost every cut with a dremel, haha. So I'm sure it wouldn't take that long for anybody with some degree of experience and the right tools.

For a 1st time effort, you look like a pro carpenter! It will look damn awesome with all the stuff lined up! Post more pics when ya done !

Really impressed that you got those multi track to level.

Im pretty green as far as I think I am; recycle, use compost, shop local and small and try to use my bike as much as possible.

I also love cleaning my toys, every week, with a can of this stuff.

I'm surprised that more people haven't chimed in on this. My experience has shown me that, over time, dust sticks to vinyl like glue. The only thing I know to do is keep all mine in storage, away from light. Is there something I'm missing?
