Title: American Idols Sub-Header or Sub-Title: Do it here for Americans. KAWS, Mr. Kozik, Pushead, Le Merde, "art toys"
Is the sub-header even relevant anymore based on current interest and collecting here on the MB?

I just think there are other "American" creators that should be listed that actually participate on these boards and are collected more than the others... I was looking for other input. Now chillax Mark goddamnit

 Re: Relevance
If we're being honest, it should probably be:
Do it here for Americans. KAWS, Mr. Kozik, Angry Woebots, Huck Gee, Luke Chueh, "designer vinyl"

 Re: Relevance
If we're going to change the sub-header, can we also change the title to something less nauseating than "American Idols"? How about "Amerikaiju"? Anything other than a reminder of that cultural detritus would be preferable.
Also, I've been wondering this for a while now; aren't there any designers working in this area outside of Japan & the US?

How about a subforum called 'The Landfill' for the kaiju/sofubi buzzword riding stuff?

 Re: Relevance
I agree that this area has mutated past the old sub header. I like the idea of this being a sort of catch all sub forum for all of the sorts of toys that sofubi/kaiju collectors dig that aren't necessarily form Japan. I honestly don't think the toys need to be of American origin or even vinyl. It could be just, like "Other Toys", or something. Maybe that's too broad, and maybe I'm missing the point, but I feel like that's what this sub forum should be.

 Re: Relevance
I agree... the term "American Idols" is just awful.
How about "Gaijin Toys"?

 Re: Relevance
Let's vote on a new section name and a new set of artists to list in this section of the forum! I ran this by people who have more authority and haven't heard back yet, but I figure we can always go ahead and start a poll or two and go from there.
Feel free to suggest artists / companies that you think should be listed, and I'll get them added to a list on my first post on this page. Once we have a good list made up, I'll start a poll and we can all vote on what it should be. Oh and considering the weird history (let's NOT get into discussion about it here) between Super7 and the Lulu gang, I'm not putting GS on the poll.
Also make suggestions on the section name. I liked the idea of "Gaijin Toys," except people might not know what "Gaijin" means.

 Re: Relevance
Why even list artists only to change it/have this discussion again later? I think people understand what the forum is about without a list of popular names.
I find it funny that you bring up Grody Shogun because all their lists are in the Japan threads. I find the crossover of what goes here vs. there weird, but maybe that's just me.

 Re: Relevance
Agree on leaving individual toy makers off of the sub-header. Maybe just have it read something like "The place to discuss this, but not that." or something equally vague.

 Re: Relevance
I actually also agree on leaving individuals off the subhead, and can we update the subhead on Japan toys too- to NagNagNag and the gang.
