 Re: Zollmen Database- updated 6/3/12
The newest sale is not a lottery. It's a pre-order. The pre-order is open from Oct 6th to the 12th with payment due by Oct 12th at 3 pm Japan time.

But don't they all say that? Once they get a million applicants, a pre-order changes into a lottery. I guess time will tell, but I've never once seen an open run pre-order.

I have to believe that it is a lottery. The last "pre-order" for the takemi ended up being a lottery. The last Zollmen open run was the recent mini set that medicom released.

 Re: Zollmen Database- updated 6/3/12
It's a regular pre-order. That is why the order date is open for so long. It also states it in Japanese that it is a made to production order on the number of sales.
When the sales is limited and becomes a lottery the orders are normally only open for a couple of days.

Hilarious! But really, you announced a lottery. Try to not do that type of thing for the rest of us who are not qualified enough to be on the special Lista Italia. yes " baffi spaghetti mandolino"....italian maffia connected to Yakuza... maybe!? .....good luck whit your lottery

Either it's a lottery and they closed it early and I got lucky, or it's a made-to-order pre-run. Because I already got a payment request.

When I look at some sculpts i always wonder to which point it can be intricate and still working with casts requirements... Hope there's a surprise beneath !

So now that the ordering page is shut, who actually ordered one and didn't get any confirmation ? phantomfauna wrote: Paulkaiju wrote: I wonder what is under that head? Looks like it pops off. With closer inspection, it looks like there's a split at the back of the jaw, that could circle up behind the horn.

Should Zollmen continue this way, I wonder if some people will start turning their back on the brand...

I am sure you are right, some folks thrive on exclusivity. But I think as long as their designs stay solid most will keep with them. The last preorder was the first time I've gotten something from them directly since the first Maza.

 Re: Zollmen Database- updated 6/3/12
I hate that this is the case, but since NYCC is going on, I have to skip this one. I got a payment request, but NYCC is taking priority. I hope I don't get put on some kind of blacklist for non-payment.

I think the first people who will turn their backs are the ones who didn't plan on keeping it in the first place. In a hobby that has started to seem like nothing but micro runs to generate interest in a toy I am glad Zollmen is trying this. Also...One thing that is fun about Zollmen is there always seems to be a surprise with every sculpt...Some little clever twist that makes it all the more fun.

Totally agree with this, I'm really excited that they made this an open order. I don't expect they will do this for every release but I hope they do more of these with other toys in the future. Open order Maza please! Cant wait to get this guy in hand. For once I'll hopefully be able to see the surprise myself without getting the spoiler on here.

A redundant post I guess - but I also completely agree with these comments. So nice to get a shot at this without the constraints of built-in limitedness. Its a great looking toy that anyone who keeps an eye out can own. And yes, an open order Maza would be a marvellous idea.

A mix of opened pre-orders and lotteries like Elegab does is a perfect compromise. It lets people have a chance to get a version of the sculpt and still allows rarities to be chased after for exceptional versions. I hope Zollmen will continue this way !

 Re: Zollmen Database- updated 6/3/12
If I was a toy maker I'd pull a limited edition of 10 every time. 5 of those 10 I'd burn and melt and Youtube it as a sacrafice. The other 5 I would place in hand made artisan wooden coffins and travel the country burying them. I'd tweet hints to where I buried them. The first to find them gets them BUT I'll have a thug waiting near by to collect $1000 from them. Then I'd always have 2-3 "secret" versions of the run on the side I'd sell on eBay. Then the next year I'd repro them with 1 change but in HUGE runs. Then I'd make a lottery with that run. You'd have to pop the head off of each to look for a ticket number inside. The winners would get to purchase a 1 off....that would only be available at SDCC if you could follow my TUMBLR hints and find where I am there. Then when you find me you'd have to purchase the 1 off for $2000 and also have In and Out Burger for me.
That's just how I'd do things though. Not telling anyone else what to do. In fact I am, fuck these other toy makers. I'm going to go make toys. BRB LOL.
***(the above is not making fun of anyone in particular, but everyone in particular.)
