 Re: anyone here collect legos?
Heard the greatest thing at work today: two little girls, pleading with their mom, "instead of Disney world, can we go to legoland??"

Quote: Built in his house by Lego genius Akiyuki over the course of two years, for a total of 600 hours of construction time, the machine has staggering dimensions: 17 modules that process 500 balls for a length of 101.7 feet (31 meters) at a rate of one ball per second. The total size is 5 by 21 feet (1.5 meters by 6.5 meters). lego great ball contraption

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
So they're having a buy one get one 50% off at Toys'r'us online in the US. It's technically on everything but Ninjago, Friends and Technic. I'd like to get some Modulars, but they're somehow not included in the sale online. I hear that some people will order those, get them delivered to the TrU branch, and then get a refund. Does anyone know if there's a simpler way to maybe contact them and have that discount applied directly? I'd have the sets delivered to family and don't want to trouble them with a pick-up, refund, etc.
Thanks!

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
It's always been weird to me that Lego sets are sensibly more expensive in Canada than in the US. The modulars that are $150 in the States, for example, are $200 here (plus 13% taxes...). Now, I just ordered from lego.ca since they had a decent special deal (well, US price) + I needed something quick for my son's bday. Got my tracking info today and found out they're shipping from a warehouse in Massachussets. So the exact same toy leaving the exact same warehouse will be 30% more expensive in Canada PLUS they will bill taxes, which as far as I know they shouldn't do if the warehouse isn't in the country. I love the toys, but think their business logic sucks.

It's not just LEGO, all toys are 20% cheaper down the States, even Hasbro's products made in Longueuil's factory ... So my advise to carless peoples that can't shop in the US every couple of months is to look Chapters.ca

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
Just noticed most (all?) of the buildings in the background are actual modulars.

 Re: anyone here collect legos?
My son, 8, really started to get into legos. Of course he's into the Star Wars line. We went to Ikea this weekend and he begged for a detolf to display his collection in. So that's what I'm doing tonight after work, which is a fun way to spend time with him because I know those days are numbered. I've also used http://www.bricklink.com, very useful. I actually just put together a set of minifig parts to build my very own (plus one set for a xmas gift) Ramones set much like this one...

Finally got all the parts in and screen printed the brick wall. Pretty stoked with how it turned out.
