 Re: comics?
i think my problem with planetary was that it seemed too long, like the story was just stretched a little thin. i also got the impression that the ending wasn't really planned out. it seemed more like he just had the story in his pocket to pull out whenever he got tired of doing the series (or whatever).

Well, it was postponed for a few years which probably didn't help the overall flow of the story. I don't really read a lot of these types of comics, being more of an Indie / European comics fan . . . but i found Planetary entertaining. The different genre styles that they play with and the sarcastic, dry humour were a lot of fun . . .

 Re: comics?
It's music but I'm posting here since it is comics related and would get lost in the Listen thread .. Geoff Barrows' DROKK is music inspired by Mega-City One. I'm not a huge fan of 2000 AD / Judge Dredd but the music on here fits a lot of my reading !

I just read it all straight through and didn't pay attention to the publication dates. I'm re-reading sandman now, and it's even better than I remember. It's so rare to find a creator that's really willing and able to flesh out a world and history for his/her characters. Very satisfying. I think I'll probably go re-read bone next. Other things I've read recently that were good: punisher max (the Garth ennis run), the unwritten, the killer, and fables (catching up from around #70). Fables has gotten a little unfocused recently though. I'm undecided on Locke & key, but leaning more towards dislike the more I think about it. I really didn't like ex machina or girls. At all. I disliked girls so much that I don't think I'll bother with anything else the Luna brothers do. I have no idea what other people saw in that run.

 Re: comics?
I wanted to let everyone know about a book project I was involved with in helping to publish... Satan Is Alive - a tribute to mercyful fate A perfect bound anthology book of comics and writings from Tom Neely, Mark Rudolph, Johnny Ryan and a ton of other talented peoples. 5.5×7″ 144-page B&W book with a 2-color cover on bristol. They came out amazing. I have some available in my store now if you are interested.

 Re: comics?
^^ I bought this a while ago and still haven't started reading it yet . . . . I'm waiting to get a nice chunk of free-time so i can really get stuck into it! Jimmy Corrigan blew my mind and i've been following his stuff ever since - i've been really enjoying Rusty Brown as it comes out too. One i have read recently was this one: Ralph Azham 1 by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr I think Lewis Trondheim is my favourite cartoonist working today . . . i love his style of storytelling and his artwork is great too!

 Re: comics?
Just read the first trades of the DC new 52 for Animal Man and Swamp Thing, highly recommend both. Lemire did an amazing job on Animal Man and it really caught me by surprise that I enjoyed it as much as I did.

 Re: comics?
I felt the same exact way! Made me want to go back & check out older Animal Man stuff too.
I was subscribing to both titles and loved the first 10 or so issues. Eventually I cancelled though, cause it reeaally starts to drag. The same arc is essentially STILL going on in the current issues.
But the writing & art are Great unto themselves and Very complimentary together. If you liked the 1st trades though, definitely read the 2nd.

 Re: comics?
I've read the 1st volume of his Swamp Thing, & it is! Now I just need to read the 2nd vol. Morrison's Animal Man is one of the next on my list too. Yeah, over the years I've seen Animal Man pop up here & there as a fan favorite, but just kinda dismissed it. Not sure why, maybe I thought it sounded too ridiculous by name alone. That's what I get for judging a book by it's cover. Hardy har har
