I like the top of my shelves now: P1020541 by Beautification Syndrome, on Flickr Although I think it looks too well organized. I keep scratching my head thinking I just got another detolf but yet my tops are still covered?

 Re: Favorite shelf
Hey thanks for the kind words Rich! I try to just collect what I like, try not to get caught up in hype, and most importantly try not to put myself in financial peril! I like that my toys are in my office/room now BUT- the room is so small the other half (not seen in this photo) is harder to see. Row three would be where all the vintage stuff has accumulated, and row four is a lot of zollmen/woo/goji etc. One day when I hopefully have a bigger place or home I'm getting a vintage display case to go with these....for vintage toys of course

I know these never come that perfect, at least not mine.

So I didn't even try. I have my cases separated by about 4 inches.

 Re: Favorite shelf
Ahhhh the leveling issue. Yeah detolfs are hit or miss, and you really get what you pay for at Ikea. The last one I put together the plastic strips that connect the side panes of glass split and cracked on two sides! I kept assembling through that mess, thankfully they're not too essential! Yeah but I use a trick my grandfather taught me. He did a lot of carpentry in his spare time and gave me a bunch of wood splits (long long time ago) he made for leveling that look like this: I usually break them in half ^^^ and apply them to any of the 4 corners that need them, stacking if need be. Works like a charm. Yeah these detolfs, unlike my last set up on hardwood floors, are on a carpet. So there is no way they'd look that neat if I didn't use these!

 Re: Favorite shelf
you can also use wedges of sturdy cardboard or if you wanna get hardcore and your floors aren't totally jacked up (and down) cut a piece of plywood to the size of how ever many detolfs you plan to set up and arange them on top of the wood

The original "silver back" version has always been my favorite, though. It's red hot power warms up the joint. I need that original release bad now!

 Re: Favorite shelf
The last detolf we bought from Ikea, specifically for my pushead collection, i dunno...we must've taken it apart 2xs after putting it together. the shelving is wobbly. Sheila and I scratched our heads. We did everything right. The front right corner bolt just didnt want to be screwed in correctly for some reason or another. Now, every time I go to open the case, my blue croc falls over 5 out of 10 times if the force jolts him the right way. Super annoying to say the least. The other 2 detolf's that house Sheila's collection (and a piece or two of mine-non-pushead toys) were just fine. Go figure.. Lixx wrote: Ahhhh the leveling issue. Re: Favorite shelf
I know it's really 2 shelves, so to be clear, the top is my favorite since those are my favorite versions. The second is right up behind it though. Really could use that 1st version on the top shelf there though.
