Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I rather enjoyed this episode. May have been one of my favorite ones! Can't wait to see how the new group is incorporated as well as what kind of revenge the governor plans to enact. My favorite scene being the michonne/gov fight, biterheads snapping away and all.
I can't help but feel sorry for the governor though. His daughter settling down after he started singing her a song (probably one he sang to her when things used to be normal) only to realize it was the meat that had her attention, that's tough.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Sorry but another HUGE gripe I have is that when Michone is first introduced at the end of season 2, she is lugging around 2 zombies in chains... She's walking around with them...for god knows how long. The viewer is left wondering.
So WHY would be she be so shocked that the Governor had a zombie in his home or the heads?? She kind of had that same thing going on herself.

She was using the walkers on chains as a tool, they carried her bags and also kept other walkers away. She may have grown attached because she had them for so long but I don't think she has feelings for them considering she chopped their heads off when she had to. I really liked the episode but it leaves so many questions I'm wondering whos next to die and whats going to happen to Daryl. Hope the gang makes it back to the jail before The Governors crew does.

^^ She was using the walkers on chains as a tool, they carried her bags and also kept other walkers away. Right I get that. She used the zombies for her benefit. However, why would she freak out about the fact that The Governor or anyone else for that matter..might have done the same thing. She held zombies in captivity to aid her..however why was she quick to judge the Governor?
Maybe the writers are trying to make him some sympathetic foil to Rick but so far...he really has not come across as evil as he should be.

Maybe there is no motive, that's why. At first I thought they may be used for scientific advances but remember, he's got a human head in there as well, not just walkers. Maybe Michonne knew the governor wasn't right in the head but freaked when she realized the extent of his psychological issues.
No person in their right mind would keep a human head as a prize.

I'd like to see a chart of the human deaths. I still can't get over the fact that we saw Michonne decapitate a live human (with no cutaways to soften the impact, IIRC), on television. I think that may be a first, even for basic cable.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Soooo what does everyone think of Glen Mazzara stepping down as the showrunner today? Two showrunners within three seasons? Must be a B*TCH to work for AMC! You KNOW it has to do with creative direction and (possibly) budget all over again just like with Darabont. It's a dark show why can't AMC just roll with it and stop pretending it's going to be lighter fare...
IF AMC wants to save money again get rid of that awful Talking Dead show! Chris Hardwick is the biggest tool and the fan calls they take are completely stupid, not to mention topics of discussion. Everyone knows AMC did that show because there was a really nice fan based show on youtube the first season that would have the actual actors on to discuss the WD show right? You can't find it anymore because AMC bought up the rights and made their own version of it.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I think because it's the highest watched show in cable history the pressure is too much for anyone to want the gig long term (and the pay unnegotiable). We can hope it'll be the same show next fall but no way to know for sure. Also read that they expanded the talking dead to a full hour

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
That Talking Dead show just makes me nauseous whenever I even catch a glimpse of it. I can't express how much Chris Hardwick annoys the shit out of me....digressing though:
I don't think it's pressure, it's the suits at AMC. They want more control over their cash cow. They don't have input on shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men because they don't own them, just host them. WD is completely different, they own it. What really made them as a network was giving the showrunner/directors complete control over the shows and not micro managing them. They completely stifled Frank Darabont after season one, cutting the budget and having creative differences (ahem suits should stick to being suits). People blame Darabont for the slow half of season two but reality was they stayed on the farm due to budget constraints I'm sure. His original idea to start off season two would have been the best episode they did (it's all over the web, google it). Then you get Glen Mazzara in. Who knows maybe AMC heard the criticism of the pace and finally gave him a better budget to work with but the series finally seemed to get up to speed, and got darker, which carried into this season. Mazzara was essential in doing this. Now they pretty much did the same thing to him as Darabont: "Hold on a minute there buddy we want more control, and more profit on this thing!" Probably would not give him a raise and took away more creative control.
We lost 2 minutes per episode in season 2 and 3 for more commercials (well I get mine from itunes so I don't see the commercials but I see the length in exact time) and I bet they shave off more next season. Maybe sponsors are getting freaked? Who the hell knows, but if it's not broke don't fix it.

Time and time again we see events like what happened today with Glen Mazzara. They continue to disrespect writers, shit on their audience and bury their network. Mazzara took the work-in-progress that was "Walking Dead" and turned it into a viable TV show with a future. Without him, that future is dim. Showrunners are not development executives, we're not cookiecutter douchebags that you plug into a preexisting model. TWD will suffer. Even Zombies need consistency. "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad" will be gone soon. So will AMC. I hope their fucking stock takes a dive and the shareholders line up Sapan, Dolan and Collier and shit in their open hands. Cunts.

Rick is well on his way to Crazytown, too.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Copied and pasted from Joblo.com New Showrunner is Scott Gimple!
Where's the applause? I get it, I get it. You can't get too cozy with the guy since he won't be around for an entire season probably. The life expectancy of a showrunner is getting more predictable than the actual characters. Gimple will replace Glen Mazzara when the rest of the third season is complete. Everyone's question so far as been: Why kick the guy out when he's brought so much to the series? There's a couple of reasons floating around according to THR.
1. Mazzara and his vision were a major conflict with creator Robert Kirkman. It's understandable that Kirkman would want to retain a certain amount of control. AMC believes that they need Kirkman to keep their fanbase going. So if Kirkman cannot do what he needs to do in order to feel like the show is running cohesive with what he has been creating then there's a problem. Keep Mazzara or Kirkman? The answer is simple....at least to the network.
2. Mazzara’s shortcomings caused creative differences. Word has it that Mazzara's lack of material forced production shutdowns on many occasions. The lack of experience finally drove the network to the edge so they gave Mazzara the boot.
This is all coming from an inside source so no matter what you have to take it all with a grain of salt. However, Gimple does have experience with the show. He's already been on as one of the writers. Gimple joined the team in season two right after the departure of Frank Darabont. In season two, Gimple wrote “Save the Last One” and “Pretty Much Dead Already,” and co-wrote “18 Miles Out” with Mazzara. Episodes scripted by him in season three include “Hounded” and the upcoming “This Sorrowful Life.” Along with THE WALKING DEAD, Gimple has written for LIFE, FLASHFOWARD, and GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE. He probably wants you to forget the last credit.
Recently, LAST RESORT'S Shawn Ryan tweeted: "It's a real question now why good showrunners should sell to AMC." Then SONS OF ANARCHY creator Kurt Sutter followed with: "a gift basket filled with … broken promises and the marinated tongue used to lick Kirkman's ass." Yikes. Kirkman still remains a fan of Sutter despite what he said: "@sutterink is brilliant and Sons is my favorite show on TV. Still, it's upsetting to see him ranting about things he knows nothing about."

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
^^^ I saw that the other night. I figured they'd promote a writer and it makes sense I guess. We'll have to just wait and see how much losing Mazzara effects the show when we get into Season 4, since he's staying on to wrap up post production in Season 3. Personally while I don't really miss the farm at all, I do miss the personal character development. This season seems like they're trying to fit too much action in...the Woodbury/ Governor part hasn't been that good IMO, but the prison has. Governor sucks I think. I have high hopes with Tyreese in the second half of season 3, and I hear:

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
The 1st half of season 2 was boring and filled with moments where I'd yell at the characters for being idiots. 2nd half picked up a bit. 3 is more interesting so far. I like the Guv, the comic version was too over the top. The show version is more believable. I like when it strays from the comic. Not as predictable and honestly there were things in the comic I didn't care for or about that they're cut or changed.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
A bit of variation between written and visual material is never a bad thing, granted I haven't read the comics. It's especially true when it enhances the show! I've enjoyed S1 almost as much as S3 and do hope that they try to maintain a similar pace for S4. Not to undermine S2, which had plenty of good moments.

Have fun? It's a bit sad and pathetic to want stay indoors to stare at a screen. I love this show, love the comic, but do something with your bday. Got out and live a little bit. You don't need to go out and get wasted but just do something.

Pathetic to stay indoors and watch a show you like? Still confused. Especially since you said you also like the show. Those comments make no sense. Did you not read where he said his birthday and show were nearly a month apart?? I took it as a lighthearted way of saying he was really looking forward to the show.( don't mean to be putting words in your mouth Blindbox) I just don't get the criticism when none is warranted. Urging someone to go and live a little, cool. On your 21st, an especially good idea to not overdue it, cool. The rest, uh I guess this is were I do the rolling eyes, or maybe say sad and pathetic or something else equally out if context. Seriously?
