 Re: Killer J Sarumon
While I understand no one can like everything I'm not sure why everyone hates on Sarumon quite so much. Well, I do, but the reasons applied could equally be applied to other popular cool toys. What always makes me laugh is a handful of people saw them at my house and confused it with another brand, then when they found out it was Sarumon, the like changed to dislike. Amazing how brand perception can override an aesthetic opinion.
Anyway, it works in my favor; I recently picked up a one off painted on the inside clear Sarumon by M1GO. It's incredible and it was a steal. Other favorites in my collection in addition to the killer j's own paints are a great rub piece by PK, a classic MVH color way, a fantastic velocitron version and a couple of M1go paints with a classic vintage feel. The sculpt lends itself to great paint apps IMO.
I love my Sarumon collection. It'll never be "cool" by skullbrain standards, but it just looks great and I love looking at it.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
For me it was the paint apps. The first 1 offs where awesome, then it feel apart. I still have my 1 off and love it. I don't get the hate either. It's a great sculpt with tons of texture. To bad really.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
I just grabbed my first (Thanks Brenda) all because I saw your collection Carl. I like the sculpt and the size is great. There hadn't been any posts in this thread for well over a year now and I was wondering if it fell by the wayside really. That first series of hand paints were amazing for the most part. The various artist series wasn't as strong IMO. Some were good, others suffered severely I feel. Anyway, eager to see if there are any other editions coming out and what others have to say overall.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
Hmm I never realized when the first HP's were released that this guy looks a lot like this Shikaruna GID Gaezal: Sarumon HP 25 by Killer J Custom, on Flickr Shikaruna Koubo GID Gaezal by Beautification Syndrome, on Flickr I never had a problem with this sculpt (except the arms- they just seem off and bent funny). It's basically a rehash of Bera only not as rough- I prefer the head and texture on Killer J's. At one point I had the Chronic Clear and the GID version, still have the GID. It's like most things here though, people ride the sack and leave it behind like yesterdays news as soon as something else comes along.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
I still like them, but KillerJ so saturated the market so fast with so many variants and one-offs that I think everyone burned out on them. I still am interested in acquiring more of the first one-off run that he did on flesh-colored vinyl, and keep my eyes open for them to pop up.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
I like the Triceratops headed Sarumon quite a bit, but like so many other things in this hobby I can't afford to collect everything I like. But I will say that big rock thing with the bemon eyes and mouth was pretty awful.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
I like the Sarumons. Nate makes fun of me for it. I was very selective on what I have. I recall a flurry of customs that were meh. Some sort of fluffy horror in particular and I think that unfairly reflected on all the Sarumons. Like a few here I also wait and stalk for these to pop up on the sale forum.

I still love these guys and have quite a few still. I haven't collected anything in a while, money problems but if not I would still like to get some others.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
It's nice to see this little renaissance for Sarumon going on. I've always been attracted to the figure and must admit went a little crazy with them in the beginning. Have kept a few and passed a few on to others that I hope they have enjoyed. Here's part of them... My all time favorite one has to be this LASH one-off which I would never part with.

EVOM - I'm pretty sure Hellopike is referring to the KillerJ Jango. I never felt like it was KillerJ's best effort. EVOM wrote: hellopike wrote: But I will say that big rock thing with the bemon eyes and mouth was pretty awful. ha, what are you referring to? have a pic?

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
Paid Carl a visit yesterday and was admiring a few of his many Sarumon's and thought I would give this thread another bump at some life.
Though I only have one of these, I still love this figure. I am very disappointed KJ decided to pack it up due to all the hate. Wish he'd resurface with some new stuff or even a new line of the Sarumon

I think our exclusive Goran and Sagiran were the last releases for Killer J. Great toys, but I think people don't care for the new heads?

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
I picked up this Sagiran from mandarake a few weeks ago- super cheap, it's a goofy fun toy. I'm glad I got it. Not sure if I'm going to keep it blank or paint it yet though.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
Yep. $15. With shipping it was closer to $30 I think. Very good deal!
